Book Of Revelations

I was in a prayer meeting with intervarsity today when someone said something that the wars going on in iraq (or between Israel and Palestine, i don't quite remember what he said) were predicted in the bible in Revelations. However, something told me that this wasn't quite right, but i know i don't know a whole lot about Revelations either. however, I think we believe that most of the things that are in Revelations have already happened (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG), that it was attributed to John , who we all know tends to be very poetic with his writtings, so alot of it is misunderstood. I also vaguely remember that it was written to comfort the early christians in times of persecution. and yes, i know we don't beleive in the rapture. Can anyone enlighten me on what the Catholic interpretation of this book is? Or at least point me to some good books on it? thanks.

what i can tell you is that there was a revelation declared to blessed theresa of calcutta that says that what is going on in iraq is a sign of revelations in the form of one of the four horsemen of the apocolypse, which of course is war, and i believe 2 other ones have already happened, SARS was plague, and clonning was the other one... its vague to me, but ill try to get the paper again or post a link

There are some good online sorces too. We just covered this in YG but (as I recall) the Church says Rev already happened mostly. It was a letter in a code form of encorugment and refocus of the Christian Churchs.

right, we don't. That would be sola scriptura. But i think the pope is the only one who can interpret scripture (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I"M WRONG!). but i was hoping maybe someone could point me to a catholic bible study of the book, or the books that get into the catholic understanding of it (mentally adds Lambs Supper to list). Monk? Likos? Theo? anybody?

i'm sorry, this is a question more than anything. isn't sola scriptura just "scripture alone"? that means you interpret scripture as it is, and with no other sources. What it says is what you get (in most cases, somehow this rule is dropped for John 6...). so does that mean that Catholics can't interpret scripture? wouldn't that imply that all of scripture has one solid meaning? or is that what it should imply? i dunno, i'm just curious. i like to learn about things that i don't fully know the answer to, especially when it comes to Church teachings.

just a question, cuz i have no idea... i'm here to learn as well as post... :D

Navarre Bible

Awesome study Bibles I found this this on EWTN Navarre Bible's.

A little big on the bucks, if you look hard enough or if you call EWTN they might have just the Revelation one!
