I can't figure out how to embed the video here, but here is a link to a trailer on my friend's reception of the Rite of Consecration to a Life of Virginity:

Her friend's video company, infinite Focus Video Productions, made this video and they did a fine job. Here is their website:

If anyone is interested, I just posted this video along with a reflection on Consecrated Virginity, art and the Theology of the Body on my blog:

I'm sorry, it seems that I'm experiencing technical difficulties in posting the video to this site. You can access it by going to my blog post that I linked to.

That was so beautiful. The video worked fine; thank you so much for posting! The other girl was her maid of honor?

Something like that, I believe the technical term is "attendant". The attendant or attendants (I think normatively there are two) have to be a consecrated woman/ consecrated women. The woman in her video was made a consecrated virgin this past winter. (My friend Emily was just consecrated in June).

Here is a blog post about my other friend's consecration. You'll notice two religious sisters behind her who were her attendants:

Hi, Shana! I was wondering if you were still discerning Consecrated Virginity? I haven't seen you on here in a long time. :)

That is so beautiful. I've seen her blog before and she put some photos there and you can see in the photos and the video how radiant and full of joy she is.

Can I just mention something about Em? She is a lovely woman! Very strong reminiscent of Teresa of Avila. She does missionary work and she teaches at a lovely school in my region. I actually met her through the March for Life! A great woman.

I'm friends with her too, yeah she's pretty great. A mutual friend put us in touch. I flew down for her consecration so I was actually there for all the events in the video. She's modeling for one of my art projects if you want to check out some of my progress on that:

I keep watching this ... so beautiful!!!  I love her dress too!!! the blue sash reminds me of Sr. Mary Agnes'

One thing that always moves me so much too about the Rite of Consecration of Virgins is that it is forever ... it cannot be dissolved/ dispensed as vows can be, even Solemn Vows, though it is not common. Also, although a priest is a priest forever, yes! :priest: he could become laicized (though still a priest) and enter into a valid marriage.

I love this about their consecration... it is such a witness!

Wow. Honestly, I never have thought too much about consecrated virginity. I'm pretty sure that I'm called to community life, but this video really opened my eyes to the pure beauty and holiness of this vocation. Emily was radiant, glowing, and so gorgeous!

It amazes me how much more rare this vocation is than the already rare calling to religious life.
It's like, popularity of calling:
1) Marriage
2) Religious life
3) Consecrated Virginity

I totally agree, especially in our modern world! It reminds me of the 'hiddenness' of the cloister as well because (generally) consecrated virgins are more private about their vocation. At least, I know a consecrated women and you wouldn't know if it weren't for hearsay and the fact that she is beautiful, smart, and unattached as far as the worldly relationships go.

I think consecrated virginity used to be less rare because many women religious were also consecrated virgins. This practice has widely fell out of use, so the modern vocation of consecrated virginity (women who lead a life of service in the world without living in a religious community) is definitely far more rare than the other vocations!

Praised be Jesus Christ! Just thought I'd post this here. This video had been on youtube a while ago, and I loved it, but the link doesn't work anymore. Anyway, I stumbled upon it here looking for something else. She gives a wonderful testimony of her faith and vocation!

I agree with the comment there.. this video has no tag for Consecrated Virginity, nor is it in the title. So glad I found it searching under vocations. I think this would be great for vocation talks to include something on CVs .. like once Light of Love comes out, this and Emily Byers' trailer would be perfect to add..
