Brother Sun, Sister Moon? Sorry DC, Franciscan movie :hehe: It's kind of weird and hippie-ish, but there are some very beautiful moments :hippie:

"Clare and Francis" is the best movie on them that I know of; it is about 3 hours long, though. "Francis of Assisi" is better than "Brother Sun, Sister Moon," but it still has Francis and Clare being romantically in love before his conversion which was never true.
Another great Franciscan movie is "The Little Flowers of Saint Francis."

"The Song of Bernadette" and the "Passion of Bernadette." The first is about the apparitions, and the latter is about her life in the convent. I haven't seen it, but "Bernadette" is the movie that comes before "The Passion of Bernadette" and has the same actors, I guess. I really like the one of her in the convent; it's on youtube but not great quality and in English. You should watch it in French with English subtitles if you can.

Uh...yeah, I think I'll skip that Brother Sun, Sister Moon... :x

And I LOVE "Bernadette." I haven't finished "The Passion of Bernadette" yet, and I have yet to get my hands on a copy of "The Song of Bernadette", but I really want to watch both of them.

The Robe (Religious Fiction)

The Power of the Resurrection

Mosieur Vincent (I personally didn't like it until the second time that I saw it because it can be slow.)

St. Teresa of the Andes (Miniseries)

St. Teresa of Avila (Miniseries)

Romero

The Reluctant Saint (I haven't seen it personally, but I've heard that it's good.)

So, I've gotten addicted to the movie about St. Rita. Not 100% accurate, but very well done nonetheless.

A lot of these recommendations have been good. I had tons of recommendations, but it appears they have already been recommended! There is one movie I haven't seen that I want to about Blessed Duns Scotus. From what I hear it is very amazing.

St. Teresa of the Andes (Miniseries)

St. Teresa of Avila (Miniseries)
THESE TWO!!!!!!

And I will seriously send you a copy of Teresa de Los Andes if you'd like! (the subtitles in the Ignatius Press edition aren't done so well, a lot of weird translations, old subtitles are better)

I actually made this character list :smile4: a few years ago when I was going on a Nun Run trip and gave the movie to a bunch of people (before it came out from Ignatius) I had a hard time following who every one was the first time watching it .. took up lots of thought :hehe: so thus I made the list to help others :like: (yeah, I'm a little obsessed, can you tell? :j)

https://picasaweb.go...eresaoftheandes

The movie is filmed on location at her actual houses and the actual monastery she was in!!! (the community moved to a more rural place, the old Carmel is a museum now)

Warning though, it may make you want to be a Carmelite! :proud:

While I agree that Brother Sun, Sister Moon isn't the best adaptation of the lives of Saint Francis and Saint Clare - it is a bit weird, I admit - I still think it's a good movie. The portrayal of Saint Francis's immense child-like love of God is quite beautiful. The scenery in the movie is stunning and I think that enhances this. Also, the finale where Francis and his brothers go to Rome almost made me cry when I first watched it. The entire movie was worth watching just because of that scene.

We watched this movie about Saint Joan of Arc in my grade 11 history class. It was okay, although our teacher skipped over some of the middle so I didn't get see it all. Neil Patrick Harris is in it, interestingly enough, and I remember him being quite good in his role.

Now I REALLY want to see that!!! I love seeing / visiting the places where people we read about actually lived, and that person being a saint would make it all the better, especially lending to the authenticity of her biography in the movie!

Clare and Francis (Chiara e Francesco) was AMAZING! I love that movie so much! These are others I'd recommend:

Padre Pio: Miracle Man
Saint Teresa of the Andes
Molokai: The Story of Father Damien
Love is a Choice: The Life of St. Gianna Molla
The Song of Bernadette
Pope John Paul II (starring Cary Elwes and Jon Voight; LOVED IT!)
Peter: Keeper of the Keys (Footprints of God series)
The 13th Day
The Gospel of John
Mother Teresa (starring Olivia Hussey)

WAAAAAAAAH. The closest showing to where I live is almost 2 hours away. :cry4:

Does anyone know of any movies that are in English with really good acting? As much as I love the St. Therese, St. Maria Goretti, and St. Rita movies...the acting/dub acting is TERRIBLE.
