bernadette d
I wonder if any of you computer-savvy people might be able to tell me how to turnon/enable wifi on our laptop. It has worked perfectly for years now it suddenly cannot find it. Our other laptop does and the mobile phone finds it too. I tried to use Fn+F8 but the F8 key has vanished too! Oh dear! God bless. PS sorry if this is in the wrong place! Edited October 6, 2012 by bernadette d
KnightofChrist
Which OS is the computer running?
arfink
Need more information in order to help you. Does it run Windows? If so, what version? What model is the laptop? Who made it? Is it a Dell, HP, Compaq? What model number is it? Does your laptop have a physical Wi-Fi enable/disable switch on the outside? Many older laptops do. Make sure it's set to "ON" or your Wi-Fi will be unable to turn on.
Nihil Obstat
Perhaps also relevant, did your network name or password change recently?

It should be under "network and sharing center."
AnneLine
Not sure if this could be part of it, but sometimes mine acts up after a major download of 'upgrades' -- did you get any upgrades of windows or antivirus in last few days?

Groo the Wanderer
Check first to see if the computer sees the wireless adapter: Hold down the Windows key + Pause This opens the system info page In the top left of the page, click the link that says Device Manager This opens the list of all the hardware in your computer About 1/2way down it should say Network Adapters Click the lil arrow next to it to expand that part of the tree What do you see? If you see a wireless adapter, try right-clicking it and selecting Disable Reboot Repeat all the above, but select Enable this time Reboot Might work
