Jaime
Jon O'Brien has an article in the Huffington post stating that "no one can say he's not Catholic" even though his organization "Catholics for Choice" is pro abortion pro birth control, pro women priests, etc. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jon-obrien/nobody-gets-to-say-who-is-and-who-is-not-catholic_b_1940280.html I hope you guys will post comments as I have. tinytherese
I wouldn't recommend feeding the trolls or people who are just plain convinced no matter what that they're right, since there wouldn't be any point in talking with them. Pull a St. Monica and pray for them instead.
HisChildForever
If he isn't interested in following Church teaching then why does he want to call himself a Catholic??

Jaime
I wouldn't recommend feeding the trolls or people who are just plain convinced no matter what that they're right, since there wouldn't be any point in talking with them. Pull a St. Monica and pray for them instead.
I have a different opinion. I feel like if the only people who are talking are people like Jon O'Brien, then we lose the more lukewarm. I think we need to speak the truth when given the opportunity.

Basilisa Marie
He's right, though. If you're baptized Catholic, you're Catholic, until you renounce your baptism. He's not in union with the Church, but he's still Catholic. He's creating scandal, but he's still Catholic. I don't know why anyone bothers with HuffPo anyway. It's widely known that they're entirely against all unpopular Church teaching. Feeding the trolls never changes any minds. People just post to get the gratification of a bunch of upvotes. Edit: If you're going to comment, do it in a way that is actually going to help the lukewarm. Yes, he's still Catholic, but he's not in union with the Church, and that's a big deal.
