The Lukewarm Catholic’s Guide To Voting

dUSt... I like the idea, and I like what you had written... the only question I really have is the use of 'lukewarm'... given your target audience. (And I'm remembering the Bk. of Rev. comment about 'lukewarm I spit out of my mouth' when I type it....)

I wonder if maybe 'casual' might not be a better choice? Here's my logic... .my mom was away from the Church for over 40 years... really bad experiences in confession in a small town with one priest.... the only one for hundreds of miles... who was behaving VERY badly. (Eventually was defrocked... LOTS of souls wandered off during his pastorate....)

So... it was a LONG time before she came back... but she came back bit by bit. And when she finally came back, she said that one of the reasons she finally felt she COULD come back was that I hadn't pushed her, hadn't made her feel stupid... just presented truth to her in a loving and respectful way. So I tend to look at stuff like this through my mom's lenses... and I think she might have been hurt/resistant to the 'lukewarm' label. But she would have gotten 'casual' or 'unsure' or 'questioning' or something like that that wasn't quite so loaded.

But I think it is a brilliant idea, and very well done... and you do what your heart says after you pray about it, OK? Praying for you as you compose.....

I am afraid "casual" or "questioning" would almost be a statement of approval for that brand of Catholicism. I don't know of any lukewarm Catholics that actually label themselves as lukewarm--and I'd argue that most lukewarm Catholics know that they need to do a better job of living out there faith. The ones that could care less will care less about this anyway. I think using the term "Lukewarm" at least is enough of a sarcastic term, that most people, hopefully, will see the humor in it, and read it as a helpful guide rather than a condemnation of themselves.

Sounds good to me, dUSt.... just wanted to be sure you had spent time/prayer/thought behind the word choice....

Now I will focus on praying that the right people see the topic... and that their hearts will be open.....

Thanks again for all you do....

This is a rough draft. Feedback appreciated.
I plan on making a catchy graphic to post on Facebook/Twitter to get people to read this.

Again, it's a rough draft. I'm depending on the pham to help me flesh it out.

I've started the "Lukewarm Catholic's Guide to the Candidates" infographic.

Feedback encouraged.

This is dumb. OBAMA 2012!

Actually, in all seriousness, if I had found this when I was waning in my faith this guide would have been really helpful.

You might want to do something about Mitt Romney on abortion, - see the HuffPost piece that came out yesterday.

I'm sure it's a ploy to win more votes. Now we must reject what he says as being his true position. I'm so confused!
