True! St John of Avila at one time was a director for St Teresa of Avila and I think (unsure) also St. John of The Cross. According to Catholic Online, yes he directed at some point both saints and a few more: http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=3944

I hope to meet a saint one day that can help me to become a saint. I woluld like to be a saint, everything else i have tried has failed. Though i guess if i don't meet a saint i can still become a saint the hard way, meeting a saint is probably the easy way coz they always point you in the right direction. But than what of sainthood, maybe a worm in the garden of heaven is also prophetable, without GOD even that worm can't exist. BarbTherese
St Teresa of Avila called herself a worm which rather confused me at the time, wondering what poor worms had done to her - then I read that the description exists in Scripture too. "6] They cried to thee, and they were saved: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. [7] But I am a worm, and no man: the reproach of men, and the outcast of the people. [8] All they that saw me have laughed me to scorn: they have spoken with the lips, and wagged the head. [9] He hoped in the Lord, let him deliver him: let him save him, seeing he delighteth in him. [10] For thou art he that hast drawn me out of the womb: my hope from the breasts of my mother." Psalm 21 (beautiful Psalm!) Worms do a lot of good in a garden, Tab, enriching the soil for the seeds to grow. Much to hope for for us worms yet - look at St Teresa! A saint and Doctor of The Church. Our God is a God of miracles like sanctity and holiness in life. And some of our saints started out as the most unlikely candidates for holiness and sanctity of life. I did 'sit up' at the way you misspelt "profitable" to "prophetable"? Was it a misspelling, or was it prophetic? Prophets do not so much foretell the future as can be commonly thought, rather proclaim The Lord and His Gospel............[with words if necessary (St Francis of Assisi)] God bless, Tab, putting all your trust and confidence in God for the very best of gifts. Our God of The Surprise. I wonder if we have better than meeting a saint............ in The Kingdom, which Jesus tells us is within us. And Jesus reigns in His Kingdom and in Love, Peace and in Joy. St Teresa, poor worm , certainly put all her eggs in that basket. Edited October 10, 2012 by BarbaraTherese
