prose
My husband accidentally dropped a $1400 lens at a wedding I was photographing this weekend. It was another photographer's lens. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray that the repairs are reasonable. I don't think with 4 kids that we can cover the cost.

prose
lol. Hopefully not. I just hope it comes back being reasonable to replace. Hubby felt SOOOOOO bad about it. Accidents happen, but it smells of elderberries. I don't know how we will make it work if it is unfixable.
prose
It was a Canon 70-200 2.8 (in case anyone comes across one in great condition). Sigh.

Anomaly
Why do you fell financially obligated? Did your hubby ask to see the lens and dropped it, or was he helping the photographer?

prose
He moved her bag, and it fell out. It was totally an accident, but totally our responsibility. Just is heartwrenching. She is moving provinces in 2 weeks, so I hope the quote is reasonable for repair. The glass didnt break, but the focus was definitely off, and the focus ring was stiff. I just wanted to cry. Money is so crappy right now with us having four kids and all. Might have to try to miss a mortgage payment to make the bill. UNLESS, we have a miracle (which we can have if we all pray) and it is inexpensive to fix.St. Jude!!!!

prose
I think she would probably want me to replace it with what she had.
Anomaly
prose, I understand feeling partially responsible, but I would ask why wasn't the lens put securely in the bag? Why was the bag where it was that 'required' moving. I certainly would offer something to help defray her loss, but you have a family to consider.
