It's Not Working...

I liked a MissyP and hung out with her a lot and even took her out for and paid for dinner and/or ice cream on a few occasions. After we had been doing this for awhile, I asked her out and she told me no. I sulked for awhile but then finally figured some things out with myself. After a few months of this, I was just about ready to go back on the dating scene and I was starting to look around and I had even started to get close to a different girl and was about to begin chasing after her heart, but then MissyP turned around and said nvm I do want to go out.

God writes straight with crooked lines.

Also, Winnie and LilRed are completely right. He may or may not be interested. Time will tell. The important part is to have joy in all that He has given you and life out the vocation that you have right now. It may be your vocation until you get married. It may be your vocation until you enter a convent. Or it may be your vocation for the rest of your life. But whichever of these it is, you don't know yet and you can sure as heck bet that God has a good reason for you to be in this vocation right now so don't stress yourself into a ball of fire over this. Trust in Him. He will lead you "through the valley of the shadow of death."

Honestly, from the first sentence of your post, it sounds like you think of God as Santa Claus. Just because you ask for something doesn't mean God is going to immediately deliver. He might even say no. Prayer isn't us us demanding God give us what we want. It's about building a relationship with God and while he wants us to tell him the desires of our heart and what our needs are, if we start ordering God around, we won't get too far. Let the Creator of the Universe do his thing. Trust me, he definitely knows better than us.

he's cool. not weird.

His weirdness is cool. He's quirky and fascinating weird, not sedate you and store your parts his freezer weird.

I don't want wakes you up one night stabbing your nethers weird in a woman. But funny haircolor, odd piercings and retro 50's dressing up weird is cool.

Sometimes I feel the same way Annie. I was going to ask my ex from years ago to marry me; but she dumped me and now she's dating a great guy and I'm happy for them. We lived under the same roof for like four days this summer and I dare say we all had a good time and there was no awkwardness or hard feelings. For over a year after the breakup I sulked, I was cranky at God, I kept asking Him why and kept praying for someone right to come along. However, with time, came healing; healing enough that I didn't bat an eye at the two of them together, because they're meant to be with one another and we weren't.

I look through people on Ave Maria Singles, I see 30 year olds, 32 year olds, 56 year olds, all who list their status as having never been married, and when I do, my being 26 and single doesn't seem so bad. Though allowing Him to work on me in my time alone has done wonderful things for me and, for the first time in years, I'm trying to woo a woman. We're not "dating" yet, but I've been to her city, she's been here, and next month and December I'll be going back to her city again...and those are five hour drives each way.

God will work, in His own time, and in His own ways. It doesn't mean you have to totally sit on the sidelines, but roll with the punches He sends your way and do so with a joyful heart, and things will be far better.

And you're not alone. The world is full of people.

Everybody is looking for something. Some of them want to use you. Some of them want to get used by you. Some of them want to abuse you. Some of them want to be abused.

Trust me, Annie, there is a good reason why God is making you wait. It may seem unfair to you right now, but He DOES know what He's doing. Asking God for something right now and sulking when you don't get it is just going to bring you further away from Him. Put Him in the pilot seat and let Him figure out where you need to be.

Wait
by Russell Kelfer

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried;
Quietly, patiently, lovingly, God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate . . .
And the Master so gently said, "Wait."
"Wait? you say wait?" my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith I have asked, and I'm claiming your Word.
"My future and all to which I relate
Hangs in the balance, and you tell me to wait?
I'm needing a 'yes', a go-ahead sign,
Or even a 'no' to which I can resign.
"You promised, dear Lord, that if we believe,
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord I've been asking, and this is my cry:
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply."
Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate,
As my Master replied again, "Wait."
So I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut,
And grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting for what?"
He seemed then to kneel, and His eyes met with mine . . .
and He tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.
"I could give all you seek and pleased you would be.
You'd have what you want, but you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of my love for each saint.
You'd not know the power that I give to the faint.
"You'd not learn to see through clouds of despair;
You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there.
You'd not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence are all you can see.
"You'd never experience the fullness of love
When the peace of My spirit descends like a dove.
You would know that I give, and I save, for a start,
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My heart.
"The glow of my comfort late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that's beyond getting just what you ask
From an infinite God who makes what you have last.
"You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that My grace is sufficient for thee.
Yes, your dearest dreams overnight would come true,
But, oh, the loss, if you missed what I'm doing in you.
"So, be silent, my child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to truly know me.
And though oft My answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still . . . Wait."
