not sure if I'm in the right place here!
I am writing a discursive essay for English at school (UK) and would like to write about the dignity of every human life- focused on euthanasia. Any good points I could make? I don't want to be too overtly religious (I have already written an essay about my faith) though I will include religious views.

Thank you so much! God Bless

I am rather partial to a kind of teleological argument. Something along the lines of ending a life being an act of violence against nature. Establish that life is a purpose in and of itself, therefore to end a life is to act against its purpose.

You can talk about how it establishes a dangerous precedent. If many elderly people choose euthanasia when they reach a certain stage in a terminal illness, it may become the "expected" thing to do so as to not be a "burden" on one's family and caregivers. Plus, caring for loved ones when they are sick is not only a sign of love, but of great respect. People care for infants and sick people not because they'll grow up to be a contributing member of society, but because they love them.

Might not be a great argument, but it might help you get started.

The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children has some good resources on euthanasia here which might be useful since you're taking a non-religious argument.
