Chiquitunga
+ Praised be Jesus Christ! Their old one was nice but the new one is too, http://carmelitemonastery.org/ They are under the 1990s except for a couple articles where they follow the 1991s in being under the Discalced Carmelite Father General. They are the only Carmel in the US like this. The 1990s are directly under the Holy Father. They are technically a "French Carmel" being founded from the Belgian line of Carmels .. but they are very Spanish in custom (which is pretty obvious) but so I heard also from the Prioress of another Carmel who knows them well. I notice too that they have some of the toque coming out from under the scapular as the Spanish veil/habit is (though it's still French/not sewn down, more info on this here) But I have never seen a US French Carmel exactly like this. Anyway, just thought I'd share
emmaberry
Thank you for posting! I was so pleased to see that the founding Prioress was Mother Mary Seraphine.. At this point I thought any form of 'Seraphic' was just not adopted for religious names! I know that is off-topic, but I like what the name represents, especially for a contemplative. Their website is very unique.
