Everyone writes of them in one guise or another. It is simply a question of which side one takes and what approach one follows. And the more one is conscious of one's political bias, the more chance one has of acting politically without sacrificing one's aesthetic and intellectual integrity. http://orwell.ru/lib...w/english/e_wiw Edited September 26, 2012 by Hasan

Winchester
Has there ever been a democratic socialist state that consulted every person who would be subject to its rule and then did not attempt to rule those who did not consent?

4588686
Because otherwise, it's tyranny.
Left socialism (which is lower case democratic socialism) has always advocated the abolition of the state. Democratic Socialists (the political parties) tend to be left socialists in their normative outlook but accept the use of the Democratic Socialist party to make the state and capitalism more humane while they work towards the ultimate abolition of the state and capitalism.
