Maggyie
So I got a new job. I think. I know you're thinking, she THINKS? Read on. They offered me the job over the phone, the same day that I interviewed (Tuesday last week). They next day aired me the packet with the official offer letter and the benefits info and drug testing info and whatnot on Thursday. I went and had my drug test on Friday morning. I assume that I passed (ahem). I faxed all the required releases (for background checks and so forth) back to their office and I emailed them to confirm receipt. No response to my email. I am supposed to start next Monday. In my offer letter it has the name of the person I "report" to, but she is the head of the whole department - I interviewed with her. I am sure she is not going to be the one training me. I haven't heard anything from the company since I got the next day mail from them. I know where to go and stuff but not who to ask for except for this lady's name. I assume no news is good news? They would call me if I miraculously failed my drug test or they did a background check and determined I am scum? It is a financial services organization and it is a ton more money so I guess I just don't really believe I actually got the job. If I don't hear from them, should I call on Thursday or Friday just to confirm I should show up on Monday? The recruiter is from NY (the home office is on Madison Ave) and a little bit brusque on the phone. No offense to New Yorkers. So I hate to call and bother her. If I didn't actually get it it would stink because obviously I already gave my notice at my current job.
xTrishaxLynnx
If they've sent you an official offer letter and not called you to say "Hey, you didn't pass; don't show up," I would just show up. I have a feeling they'll be expecting you, so I can't imagine you'll be entirely on your own once you get there. Congrats, btw! Hope this new job works out really well for you. arfink
Wow congrats! And yes, do show up. They want you badly enough (crazy! yes, they want to work with YOU!) to hire you and pay you that well, so be confident and go get 'em!

AnneLine
I know you want the job, and I think it is just HR taking WAY too slow talking to someone at the other end of the hall. I do hope you didn't nibble any poppyseed bagels and wash them down with a quad espresso, however..... I'd just show up at the time you were scheduled -- the worst they can do is send you home while they hunt down the report, but you will be showing that you are interested and that you can show up on time! And we'll be praying...

Maggyie
So I totally got an email today from a different recruiter (the one who likes to be short is out of the office) and I passed my drug test and my credit check! Ahhh. I'm in. Now as long as I can actually DO the job, I'm golden. Please God don't let it be like my current job where the first 3 months were passed in a state of emotional collapse due to the biatchy trainers.
