catherineofsiena
I have just found out that this time next year I will be visiting New York. Now, I know that there are two fantastic communities there; The Sisters of Life, and the Franciscans Sisters of the Renewal. I would love to visit them, if even for a few hours, and see their fantastic apostolate. I live in the UK and by that time next year I will be 17. Should I contact them? When, is now too soon? What should I say? Thank you! God Bless

I've only contacted a specific community once so probably don't have the best advice to give about what to say, but I think it's great to show interest whenever you can. Regardless of when you contact them, remember to keep in contact with them and keep them reminded of your interest. Blessings!

They're in Leeds - look them up on the diocescan website. So you might be able to visit them a little nearer home... There is also a community with a similar apostolate to the Sisters of Life, the Sisters of the Gospel of Life. They're in Glasgow. They do crisis pregnancy care and counselling and pro-life education in schools/churches.
Sponsa-Christi
As a New Yorker myself, I would say absolutely, go for it! The Sisters of Life and the CFR Sisters are both wonderful communities. I’m sure they would be very happy to hear from you. Another really great, but less well-known community in the New York area is the Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate (http://www.parishvisitorsisters.org/). They have one house in the Bronx, and their motherhouse is in the countryside only about an hour’s drive north of the City.

Its so lovely to have a feeling of solidarity when looking into something so rarely perused as a religious vocation! You've got me so excited now! God Bless you and your discernment!
