Pontifex
Greetings everyone, I appreciate the discussion regardless if anyone agrees with me or not. I will say that I have received several emails from SSA individuals who were deeply touched by the video. Some of them expressed that it was the first time they had ever heard that the Church loved them they way they are. Others stated that they felt welcomed and loved. People have been changed because of the Holy Spirit at work in the video. I am humbled by that. I will say that sometimes the expectations of scholars can be high within our ranks, which is a good thing. It raises the bar on quality. It is a 2:30 minute video and it's spoken word poetry. It's not a theological dissertation. It is not going to encompass the whole of our theology on the issue. It's purpose is to reach people on a deep level very quickly and to provoke thought. That whole "hate the sin, love the sinner" line is not a relevant phrasing with younger people. It needed to be stated in a more relevant way. I tried to accomplish that. For the confusion I apologize but overall I am very happy with the production. All glory to God! Thanks to everyone who posted here it is good feedback and discussion for our growth. Slappo
Fr. Pontifex, My mother is a practicing SSA Catholic, so I am very conscious before I share any media related to SSA on facebook. This video I believed to be very well done and was comfortable posting it on facebook knowing that it goes against my family's views, but does so in a loving way. Thanks for being a part of making it. Edited September 26, 2012 by Slappo
BigJon16
"Let me get down to this fundamental point, that a Priest is steppin' up to the mic and rippin' up this joint.." Thank you Father Pontifex, for letting your own yes to God bring about this "Yes to You." I think this is the message that the nation seeds to hear amidst all the debate and controversy over SSA. You continue to inspire my own discernment. Edited September 27, 2012 by BigJon16
Slappo
it goes against my family's views
To clarify I mean it goes against my extended family's values, not my immediate family or myself .
