Didn't Jesus pray for unity...i.e. one branch?
Yes,That would be the ideal. But human nature being what it is..

Haven't got time right now Bro Adam. Off to the Philippines tomorrow for several weeks.
Peace be with you.

Are you sure? How do you know?

Do you mean he wouldn't thank someone who said peace be with you?

I addressed it a bit on the Reyb thread. Which is on the debate board and prolly better than here. I'm taking my galaxy pad overseas. I believe there are wifi's available. Might still be able to participate. Nothing lengthy, GPs are a pain to type on. Love you all.

[sub]As long as it is "cool." That was how I chose my religion. [/sub]
It's very cool, and I can believe more of it than I can most other churches, and it has a cool ethnic side too!

Light and Truth, I'm puzzled by your motivations in posting this topic. It's not your conversion to Orthodoxy that bothers me, but your 'you and us' language and the fact that you seem to be looking for a dramatic confrontation of some kind. Your opening post (a declaration of two lines long, with no description, no discussion) does suggest that you're trying to throw a bombshell rather than actually have a conversation, and I don't see any point to that.

The two words i saw so far i don't like as a reason to become anything from you light and truth and i haven't read the whole lot and am only on page 2, these two words were 'c o o l' and ' boyfriend.' Like i hope it is cool and i hope you get married and live happily with your spouse and children, but possibly not what my reasons would be to do something. I used to do that all the time going to the night clubs, 'hot women' and 'cool dudes'. No pun intended. But anyway i'm sure there is more to your descision as you said you would write a paper on it for us all to read next year, that would be truely c o o l . Another thing though i'm happy for you, alot of the orthodox church is in partial communion with rome anyway, but also i believe in the words of jesus "be baptised and believe and you will be saved." If your going to do this Light and Truth do it with your whole mind, heart, body and soul, leave no stone unturned, as the irish would say "to be sure, to be sure." Unless of course a voice actually came from the clouds or such and told you to do so than i wouldn't be testing that or you may loose it.

Onward christian souls.
JESUS iz LORD.

also if you ever find your orthodoxy failing you, your always welcome to come to the Holy Roman Catholic church. I have a good friend whom is serbian orthodox, she sells flowers and other plants outside a corner store, and she knitted me two jumpers and gave them to me very cheap, actually if i remember one was free and i paid for the other one.

Oh, it took me a while to get what you were saying about boyfriend. I was hoping to find a church with some nice age-appropriate single Armenian guys because I think it would be cool to date an Armenian guy, but he has to be religious-and mean it like he has real faith and stuff-for it to ever work out. I am not so happily single (feel free to pray I find a great husband/father for my children). I've had an interest in Orthodoxy ever since I had this amesome, very devout and godly, loving boss who was Antiochian Orthodox. If it was just about "cool", then I would have become Catholic, but I can't fully accept the Catholic Church's authority and all of it's teachings. You may recall I gave several points of theological reasons why I chose Orthodoxy over Catholicism (and I believe I said the paper on it was for a friend of mine, not for here though I may be willing share under the condition that I am not required to debate). Cool however includes a summation of a lot of positives for me.

Please don't tell me to do it with my whole mind, etc. I have a habit of trying too hard to do too much for God and getting depressed and discouraged when I fail at something. My focus cannot be on how I am doing it as much as it has to be on God and what He does and who He is.

Thank you for being happy for me.

Now it all makes sense! You dig olive skinned guys with beards!

The ironic thing about this comment is that I have always had a thing for Catholic boys, and I think western Mediterraneans are better looking than eastern ones.

I've been to an Eastern Catholic Church (though you are welcome to pray that some gorgeous, tall, half Armenian or something man from the Armenian Catholic Church [or a younger, more maritally faithful version of Jose Mourinho] meets me in a couple months and tries to woo me for a wife...). Tolkien does not seem like a good enough reason-I've had too many people tell me that I need to have strong, good, logical reasons for things with faith, and I have blindly followed too much of the wrong advice on how to be holy. I have heard of Scott Hahn-I think, not the others though. Thanks for the links. I have heard a lot of good answers from Catholicism, but not enough to move to Catholicism, though perhaps enough to be Orthodox. It is as close as I have the courage for my life to afford or for reason to say I can assent to.

Between you and Annie12, I'm really starting to worry about young women... In a few years time you will look back at the things you have typed and you'll want to erase them from all memory. Honestly.
