Yeah and instead of him asking me twice or you quoting this comic, both of you could have used a little thing called "google".

True. After all, this is the internet. :hehe2: Truth to be told, I was too lazy and don't really care (as a rule, I never choose people in Apples to Apples, for approximately the same reason, because I just don't care very much about random supposedly well known people and I generally have no idea who they are anyway), but I do like that comic. Hence quoting it and not bothering to Google him.

Perhaps the Roman Church should clean up its act when it comes to liturgy (i.e., by penalizing those who promote or participate in liturgical abuses):

Click the link to see Orthodox responses to a video showing a comparison of an Orthodox liturgy to a liturgy celebrated in, and sponsored by, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles:

Journey to Orthodoxy

If you read the comments by the Orthodox posters you will see that - by and large - they are not into gloating, but are really concerned about the strange things going on the many parts of the Roman Church.

I've seen that video. I truly hope that such Protestant-style services are rare among that diocese.

I've watched you oscillate between Orthodoxy and Armenian Catholicism (often in the course of the same week) and my first thought was that this speaks of huge inconsistency for someone so recently confirmed. It makes me wonder what kind of instruction you had on your way to confirmation, as these are the sort of questions that are dealt with as you prepare for that sacrament - which is why such lengthy preparation is given. Now your profile says 'non-denominational' (and maybe it will say something else by the end of the week). Rather than devoting so much time to debate over liturgical preferences, I would take some time - through prayer, study, and consultation with a trusted priest/spiritual director - simply to deepen faith as a Christian before working out where you go next. Stability is more valuable than Internet debates when it comes to these big questions.

But it seems that you do not have this stability in prayer or in community life. For several weeks now, you have been posting threads asking if it's OK for you to skip Mass on Sunday for this reason or that reason. Your churchgoing - to any church - hasn't been steady. I think it would be far more sensible for you at this stage to actually go regularly to a liturgy as opposed to debating liturgical merits on Phatmass. Then you will have the help and grace you need to approach the theological questions.

I'm taking a hiatus from here starting this weekend to study things. It hurt to drive to my church because of the accident-hurt every day since the accident and started an internship right after the accident while working a full-time job (internship ends next week). I recently started an email conversation with my priest. It was a very brief instruction and after my tag was changed and I asked myself why, I realized I didn't really know what was truly supposed to be the right church if it is such a big deal between them which is probably part of why I had so much trouble letting the issue go along with believing that being Catholic was impossible before because I thought I had to believe in certain things more to ever be accepted by the Catholic church as a convert (hence the if you want a more inclusive tag, then convert was impossible and I set out to prove that when I was upset as was maybe wrong) and hence why my tag has never said Eastern Catholic. I've actually been praying more but mostly God help with this and thank you God for that stuff. I'm not actually non-denominational, but I'm not sure what to put. I'm a bit confused over what the right church is between them.  One of my goals over the next couple of years is to learn more history because I think that might help things make more sense.

Sorry if that is not broken up enough. I'm on my way to work.  All prayers appreciated.

Thanks. If I had never shot my mouth (fingers?) off when I first converted, this would have never come up and I would still be learning things like why I read somewhere that baptism is necessary for someone someone Christian instead of lost with all of this church stuff. I should have realized many months ago that I just don't belong here any more (though a petty side of me occasionally wanted to send a sarcastic thanks to everyone who was sarcastic or harsh on the thread asking why I was not a phatmasser). :( Someone actually pointed out some things similar to what Beatitude said, and probably rightly so.

If I want to discuss something as inane as liturgy before I leave, I will. If you think that was harsh, you should ask my opinion about some Christian music radio on a bad day (which boils down to musically uncreative, conceptually shallow, "art" in it's most base and commercial form force fed into some Christian lives as a proper way of expressing faith/worship).  Liturgy should be a place where "art" is stripped away and worship and prayer are in raw, sincere form meeting with God without the need for emotional music or personal relationship related lyrics.

As in any group there will be those that befriend you and those that don't. Those who will work with you on issues you have and others who will take rude and unnecessary butthurt with issues you bring up. Don't let the jackholes divide you from those that have befriended you and want to help you come to a greater understand of Catholicism in ether East or West.

Pax and prayers.

This is an important time in your life and you just gotta stay positive! Even if there are people who may doubt your resolve and make you feel that this journey is unimportant, just always cling to your faith, honesty, and desire! Those who sincerely seek the truth will find it even if there are bumps along the way.
