r2Dtoo
What war did Obama start? Libya? Please, we just went along for the ride. After 9/11 we didn't have mobs of protesters outside of our embassies because Bush was seen as a strong President. Obama is seen as weakling, and now we have all these problems. Aloysius
the point was that we weren't being stupid, and we aren't being weak. we were being WRONG, absolutely, but those other characterizations are nothing but political punditry that obscures what's really going on out there. talking heads pick up minor gaffes and blow them up to convince you that Obama is being weak so that you'll think Obama's weak foreign policy is making us less safe. the reality of the matter is that a whole bunch of people in the middle east are storming our embassies because we're doing quite the opposite. why do you think they're storming the embassy in Yemen? because they think we're weak? or because we've been bombing the croutons out of the neighborhoods in Yemen with unmanned drones? r2Dtoo
You seem to be stuck on this idea that every politician will have his gaffes. Well yes, "Is our children learning" is an obvious gaffe, but that has obviously has nothing to do with any US position, and people may laugh but don't really care. When a President says we are no longer the dominant power in the Pacific, people take notice and they care. As far as drone attacks in Yemen if those protesters thought that Marines would shoot them the moment they breached our embassy they would have never had done it. Groo the Wanderer
President Obama says the U.S. would no longer consider the Egyptian government an ally, “but we don’t consider them an enemy.†*** dumbarse*** Obama said the new Muslim Brotherhood leadership in Egypt was still “trying to find its way.†*** dumbarse *** “They were democratically elected. I think we are going to have to see how they respond to this incident, to see how they respond to maintaining the peace treaty with Israel,†he said. *** dumbarse *** Egyptian security forces were slow to respond to attacks on the U.S. embassy Tuesday night when crowds infiltrated the compound and tore down the U.S. flag. The incident occurred shortly before an attack on a U.S. consulate in Libyaleft four Americans dead. Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi did not offer a public response to either incident until 24 hours later. *** yeah. they're our friends all right *** “What we’ve seen is that in some cases, they’ve said the right things and taken the right steps. In others, how they’ve responded to other events may not be aligned with some of our interests, so I think it’s still a work in progress,†Obama told Telemundo. “But certainly in this situation what we’re going to expect is that they are responsive to our insistence that our embassy is protected that our personnel is protected. And if they take actions that indicate they are not taking those responsibilities like all countries do where we have embassies, I think that’s going to be a real big problem.†*** ooh. tough talk now? dumbarse *** The White House said Obama phoned Morsi on Wednesday night to underscore “the importance of Egypt following through on its commitment to cooperate with the United States in securing U.S. diplomatic facilities and personnel†in the wake of violent anti-American protests outside the U.S. embassy in Cairo. Morsi told Obama “that Egypt would honor its obligation to ensure the safety of American personnel,†according to a statement released by the administration. *** he means their corpses *** In his interview with Telemundo, Obama stopped short of calling for a reconsideration of the more than $1 billion in U.S. aid to Egypt. “The United States doesn’t have the option of withdrawing from the world. We’re the one indispensable nation. Countries around the world look to us for leadership, even countries where sometimes you experience protest,†he said. *** if give them more money, mebbe they will kill less of us? right. dumbarse ***
Oh come on now, they wouldn t do this if they just feared us more?
