Nola Seminarian

Hey Pham,

I and a brother seminarian named Donald are planning on going on a pilgrimage (i guess that's what one would call what we're doing) to the Monastery of Christ in the Desert outside of Santa Fe New Mexico during the thanksgiving holiday. We plan to make this a time of prayer and penance for our [possible] vocations. The only problem is the cost. The plane tickets cost me $500 and since neither me nor Donald are over 21 we cannot rent a car, so we have to charter a transportation service to take us to this remote Benedictine Abbey. The car service costs $125 each way for both of us a for total of $250 for me to pay. Since i am a poor seminarian from a poor family i do not have $250 for this. I make rosaries out of twine so i asked my vocation director and received permission from him to make and sell 20 decade rosaries to help fund my trip to the Abbey of Christ in the Desert.

I was wondering if anyone here on PM would be interested in buying one of these 20 decade rosaries. i was thinking of charging $50 for them, but the price is negotiable. I can make one out of twine with a Sacred Heart of Jesus Centerpiece and Benedictine Medal Crucifix or a twine and wooden bead rosary with the same center and Crucifix.

If you would be interested, private message me your preference (that is, twine or wooden bead and if twine, what color twine, i have black, yellow, dark blue, red, and green string) and how you would pay (i would prefer you would send me a check but i do have pay-pal.

Thank you for considering supporting me for this pilgrimage.

P.S. ADMINS if this is inappropriate for me to ask here on phatmass, please forgive me and take it down.

Yes Defininetly pics. I have a mom who has asked me to make her two rosaries for her daughter's upcoming confirmation but I won't be able to do it (time constraint) so I might be able to refer her to you.

He's looking for a replacement 20-decade for his habit. I put in a plug but go ahead and get in touch with him see if you might be able to make something for him.

I'll pray about a rosary (or just making a donation) but are you sure about the rental car thing? Myhusband works for one of the biggies, and I think there may be some provisions for you to put down a deposit or something if you are between 20 and 25....(unless youre in Mississippi....?

What is the minimum age I can rent a car with XXXXXXX? (AnneLine removed name of company)

On most rentals the minimum age is 25 without an additional Age Differential Charge, and 20 with an additional Age Differential Charge. Minimum rental age in MS is 21. ....

PM me if you want more details.... it would have to be cheaper than the private service.

OR ask the monks if they have a friend of the monasatery who would be willing to drive out if you pay for gas and a small stipend? Or find a +25 year old friend who wants to make a retreat?
