Visiting My Sisters

As some of you may have read, my pastor told me that my Sisters may be visiting next week for an important event at our parish. I had no news of this beforehand because I have had limited contact since the Provincial Superior left for the Motherhouse in Europe. I haven't talked to her on the phone or anything since before she left. Imagine my surprise when he told me this!

Anyway, since I don't have a working car now, I was wondering how I was going to get to my parish on a weekday morning. I haven't attended daily Mass there since my friend left (she used to pick me up and take me). I asked another friend and she lives too far away. I know of no one else that lives by me because we are out of the parish district apparently.

I started looking at taxi fares which is NOT cost feasible at all. It costs $20 one way! Then I thought of a public bus that runs on limited routes and found out that they could drop me off beforehand, but they wouldn't pick me up until 2 hours later. Also, I would like to attend Mass and the bus route doesn't begin until after Mass starts so that won't work. Then, I considered renting a car for a day. That seems to be the best solution. It's $32 for a day which is much better than paying $40 roundtrip taxi fare. Plus, I would be able to the car for other things like errands, if I needed to.

Please pray that I can figure this out before next week! I tried to PM one of the Sisters to ask if she knew whether or not they would be coming down for sure since my pastor wasn't 100%. I'd love to go to the event, anyway, but I really hope they come! :)

Thanks, ladies! My mom suggested that I take the bus there and stay those two extra hours helping out in the parish office which is a great idea, especially since my pastor has been so helpful in my discernment. Plus, if the Sisters are there, I might get to spend some time with them and talk more about the order. :)

I PMed one of the Sisters I'm in contact with to ask if they are indeed coming and she hasn't responded yet. She was online today, but she must be really busy since she works at night as a nurse. :)

The Sister I PM'ed finally got back to me and confirmed that two other Sisters who I've never met will be at the parish next week! I'm sad that the Sister I keep in contact with isn't coming because we have become good friends, but it will be nice to meet two others for the first time. :)

That's wonderful Mater! I wanted to prop but don't have any left, so I'm commenting instead :) Yay!!!

Also, question, are you set on your transport yet? But if you take the bus you'll miss Mass right? Hope all works out!

I haven't figured it out completely yet. The Sister I PMed suggested I speak to my pastor and see if he can pick me up since he's picking the Sisters up and dropping them off at the airport. I wanted to speak to him tonight but he was MIA during the Catholicism series showing. I might have to email him. I'm still considering renting a car for a day. With my mom's warehouse club discount, it will only be $33 plus tax which is much better than $40 for a round trip taxi fare. At least I can come and go as I want. :)

Prayers it all works out. It would appear if you have other errands to do that day that maybe renting a car would be the best, even if you could get a lift.

Thanks! :)

It has been a month since the Provincial Superior left for the Motherhouse and I am still waiting to hear whether or not the community voted to accept my entrance. Waiting is so difficult, but I am glad I have things to keep me occupied such as school. :)

Is the order still a secret? :bounce:

Yes, until I find out that I have been accepted. ;)

I may have convinced my mom to take off work and come to witness the event since the Bishop will be there (I didn't know he was coming). She's not sure though. I am probably going to make a reservation for a rental car and cancel if I need to. I got $20 as a belated birthday gift from my aunt tonight so I can use that and pay the difference. :)
