Fink, you should read this. I'm reading it for the second time. (My edition is the 2010, though.)

Maybe we should make a resolution for 2013 to find some new opportunities for us both.

My resume re-draft is done. It's not as pretty as before, but that can be fixed later. OK, it's still kinda pretty. Whatever. COVER LETTERS TIME

Today I kinda spent most of my day doing other more pressing things, so I did this 8-ball in as short a time as I could, which was about 10 minutes or so.

Just so y'all know what was more pressing, I've been applying for more jobs here and there as I can find 'em. It's been slow and painful and icky and horrible, as expected, but maybe some day I'll find something.

It's gonna be one of those days. I was awakened by a phone call, telling me the project I was supposed to have until Monday to finish needed to be done in 30 minutes.

Today was quite the challenge, so when I finally got home I knew what I wanted to do.

I'm still not that great at drawing people, and honestly this is not only proportionally all wrong, it's also incredibly sketchy and not anywhere approaching what I wanted from it. But it was just what I needed to draw, and a good exercise in humility.

Today's insanity started with a short night's sleep, followed by a rough awakening. I had breakfast late with the family as usual on Saturdays, and then I went with my dad and sister Chryso to help my uncle and aunt move. They had their house foreclosed after years of struggling to keep it, and the bank finally had enough and took it from them. They still have a few weeks to get everything out, but they wanted to try and be settled before Christmas if they can. The place was a disaster when we got there.

My uncle recently had hernia surgery and cannot lift more than a few pounds, and both he and his wife work, so of course almost nothing had been packed. The house has been being systematically pulled apart so they can bring the bare necessities to the apartment with them and get settled there, but in the meantime the house is a wreck. Their two adult children were unable to help with any moving. Their youngest son, who is I think somewhere around 10 or 11 years old (I don't recall exactly) has some developmental issues and was really quite distressed by the whole thing. He kept calling his dad's cell phone and anxiously asking if he had forgotten anything. He was at a friend's house to play, and it was a good thing because I cannot imagine what kind of distress and confusion he would be in to be there while we pulled the whole house to bits and crammed it into boxes.

After that whole ordeal was over I went to confession. It was just what I needed to have, in a way I cannot really describe. And then I got home, and started to draw. Praised be He!

Sunday is my favorite. Today was pretty special.

- Mass was deeply convicting, and powerful. It was hard, but I am grateful.

- My friend came to mass with us today. He has been struggling to make it to mass weekly, so it was great to see him there.

- I played Catan with dad, Sarah, and Phil.

- I had a short nap.

- For lunch I made pizza. Pepperoni, green peppers, black olives, home made crust and sauce. I discovered making pizza at higher temps is always better, so I cranked the oven all the way up to 550 degrees Fahrenheit, which produced a superb crust. :)

- Minecraft with my sisters.

- Mom made a cake.

Very nice. Now I'll end the day with 10PM adoration, likely to be followed by a last second work assignment, which tends to happen these days. Hoping not, but I just can't tell most days.

ARFink -- my heart bleeds for your uncle's family and for you.  It is so hard to share that kind of experience with someone.

I don't know if this would help with your uncle's family or not -- flylady's moving tips have helped many of my friends…..
