Oh bull poo. I personally know of people who have started companies, myself included, on shoestring budgets. It takes a lot more work and effort than money. Complying with Governmental regulations is one of the most difficult and time consuming obstacles. Lemonade stands are illegal.

But where do those government regulations come from, Anomaly? They come from "too big to fail" corporate lobbyists who are using political power as a way to stifle competition! That's using government as a tool toward manipulation of the free market!

And I'm glad you were able to get your business off of the ground, but your success is an anecdote that contradicts the statistics! It IS harder to start a business today than it was 30-50 years ago, and government regulation is just one of many methods corporate America uses to stifle the growth of new competition.

I will like you very much if you stop saying "free market" and start saying "corporatist system". :smile3:

I'm not as familiar with that concept, unfortunately. I'm really trying to argue from Milton Friedman's perspective since he seems to be the standard for most capitalists, even though they somehow regularly forget Friedman's emphasis on the need for competition to engender innovation and efficiency.

If you are into reading different perspectives, I cannot recommend enough Thomas Woods' The Church And The Market.

Business was unsuccessful. And it's not corporate influence that creates the beauracracy. EEO, Insurance, DBE, taxes, OSHA, and the mountains of documentation that goes along with it. Unless you've been in a small business, you don't have an idea. It's not pretty for big corporations as the deal with it exponentially.

It's over regulation from well meaning ideas that hits the perfect storm if a bloated government machine that feeds off it in a symbiotic relationship with regulation.

I respectfully disagree. Even though those "too big to fail" institutions may be subject to the same regulations, they have power behind the scenes that present opportunities to "get out of jail free" or simply have they're non-compliance ignored by the bureaucracy. When there is no transparency in the whole bureaucratic process, money can buy you compliance.

One would think no lobbyists write regulations.
If it somehow gives them a competitive edge in the market, why wouldn't they?

I'm not a corporatist, so my answer would be because it's immoral.
you disagree? Acronyms are cusses too!. That's based on my thirty years in an industry working in management in both multi billion corporations and small outfits.
You are basing that on????
