Newcomers to Phatmass, or people coming back after a long absence, seem to face a bit of a trial by fire. We mock them nearly to the point of tears for several weeks, and if they make it then everything is great. :|

I would have suspected the same thing, in your position.

I do reject the G-S repeal as a major cause of the bubble. I don't see why it couldn't contribute. I do believe that absent the various moral hazards of our corporatist system, risks would be taken less frequently, and even if they weren't, the bankruptcy process would be less unjust than the reward that is a bailout, given at the expense of taxpayers.
