Innocent
I apologise to all on the Phorum for the creating my earlier thread regarding fiddlers. I expected it might make some people angry at me, but I never expected it would cause so much trouble. ( The reason for the late response is that I had planned not to look into that thread until the weekend since I was not sure I could handle the stress of the reaction during the weekdays. ) I apologise to dUSt and the Admin/Mod team for not sending in the suggestion privately. I want to state that it never occurred to me at all to send it in privately because in my mind, it was never a criticism of the fiddlers as such but only a suggestion regarding a trend of using the fiddler to pseudo-swear. It was a huge turn off for me. I apologise to LilRed, franciscanheart, IcePrincessKRS and all the rest of the Admin/Mod team if it seemed that I was trying to be disrespectful to you. I have immense respect and gratitude to dUSt and all the rest of the mods/admins for creating this place and for putting in the time and painful effort it takes to run it. I would never intentionally disrespect you. I apologise to J_lol since you got a warning as a consequence of a post I made. I would like to clarify: I didn't mean to whine; I didn't mean to criticise administration decisions in public; it was not a knee-jerk reaction to any recent post or incident. I was honestly turned off by something and I had wanted to express that for a long time but didn't have the courage to do it. I realise I should not have done it; I should have just passed it off as a cultural difference that I am not able to grasp. I would like to clarify that when I mentioned it was merely a suggestion, I meant it all sincerity. I never had the intention to make a criticism about dUSt and the Admin/Mod team and try to pass it off as a suggestion. To the extent of my knowledge, the Phorum rules don't say that suggestions should be sent in private too, and in my mind it was merely a suggestion, not a criticism. When I said "humble suggestion," I meant it literally. I was very hesitant in making that suggestion, and I did not make use of that phrase in a snarky manner. (If you look at my posting history you can see that it is totally inconsistent with my temperament to be snarky in public. I do not claim this as a virtue; only as a temperamental trait, for which I deserve no praise.) It never occurred to me that a suggestion would be interpreted as a criticism. Now I realise that I was wrong in not making the connection in my mind that a suggestion also counts as criticism. I apologise for my stupidity that has caused trouble and unpleasantness and has spoilt the atmosphere on the forums for a while. If I have hurt any others but forgotten to mention them above, I apologise to them too. All my apologies above are sincere, and from the bottom of my heart. They are not passive-aggresive statements. Please don't take them as such. And last but not least, thanks to Hasan.

cmaD2006
For what it is worth ... I took your initial posts as a suggestion. A suggestion that I didn't agree with but a suggestion nonetheless. But hey ... when I saw that the two threads made it into the lame board, and that the fiddler returned, I just had a big ol' laugh over the whole thing. They could have definitely made the Phatmass Megathread list -- a thread that became a hot topic thread in seconds, and just GREW.

carmenchristi
Yeah... I'm on the same page with Cma. Your suggestion didn't appear to me as some sort of attack and I felt sorry that a lot of people were upset about it. I didn't think it was the best of ideas, but it certainly got way out of hand. Please don't keep on feeling bad about it! And hey... look on the bright side, you are now famous!

KnightofChrist
It was clear that it was merely as suggestion. There is nothing to feel sorry about and certainly no reason to feel stupid about. Your suggestions were made with charity and consern for others spirituial well being. Don't beat yourself up because other people may not have understood it. Profanity is a vice that I have trouble with your suggestion was a reminder to me at least that we will all be held accountable for every word we speak. They will help in our salvation or help in our damnation. But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
PhuturePriest
I didn't take your thread as offensive or a criticism at all. I'm not sure how someone could have read your post as critical, to be honest. But thank you for the wonderful apology (Even if it was not directed at me)! I learned a year ago apologizing for stuff that I didn't fully understand the problems with was the better route than arguing for stuff I didn't completely understand in the first place. dUSt
For what it's worth, I actually agreed with most of your original post. The fiddlers were created with the intent of stopping profanity, not as a crutch to type profanity. But, I guess we're in the minority.

Maybe a couple of people are, but not as many as the phrase "trend of using the fiddler to pseudo-swear" makes it sound.
KnightofChrist
For what it's worth here is a "advanced" google search of phatmass.com for just the word floopy, 520 results, quite a few appear to be using the fiddler as a crutch to pseudo-swear.
