havok579257
Yes, police need to play the odds. It is their job to keep the public safe. If it is safer for them not to engage in a shoot out then they shouldn't engage. There is a reason why police generally don't shoot at a person when they are hidding behind a hostage. Bullets travel a good distance so it is also imporant to not shoot at someone if people are standing behind them. So a judgement needs to be made, what action will be safest for the public. In this instance the police got it horribly wrong.
so had the police done nothing and the gunman shot 10 more people, you would be saying they did a great job? Winchester
So the message is that when a magical badge wearing angel of the State accidentally shoots innocent bystanders, that's okay because we have to stop bad guys. However, non-magical, regular people without badges must not carry weapons because when their ordinary, non-magical bullets strike bystanders, that is a massive difference. It's all very metaphysical. Got it.
PhuturePriest
How do people expect them to hit the broad side of a barn with a twelve pound trigger? Forget my previous post, I'm impressed that they can even pull the trigger, let alone shoot in one general direction!
