Lil Red
Pham...it's official...I've acquired a new room! I'm going to move in very soon! It kind of smells of elderberries to leave my roommate though. She went away for the weekend, and when she came back here she had brought a hat, some mittens and a blanket for me to borrow. She's so kind. I'm going to try and get her a small gift to say thank you for all her help.
I think it would be very nice to do that. Perhaps a card or something, writing to her your thanks for all she's done/been a friend?

I didn't want to do it until it was official. When my RD emailed and told me the room was open, she asked me if I've spoken to my suitemates. I told her I hadn't, and asked her for some advice. Hopefully she can give me some tips. I know that RDs and RAs can mediate or facilitate discussions like these, but deep down I prefer to do it on my own. Spem in alium
And by the grace of God, I've now told them all (except one, who is off campus. But I will leave her a note). I was so, so nervous (I haven't the foggiest what about) and they could probably tell. They were all very kind and understanding. I hope to start moving tomorrow! (and earlier tonight, I checked out the new room. It's incredible!)
Spem in alium
Just as a sidenote (something I found kind of amusing): The girl who's been the most difficult to understand spoke to me more in one night than she has all semester She was actually very kind, and even offered to help me move. Perhaps praying for her helped...or maybe she really doesn't like me and wants me out of here ASAP!
AnneLine
Does it really matter? I mean, I wouldn't waste any more brain cells on this!!!! You have a new room, you are happy, your roommates are happy (for whatever reason) and so time to just DO IT !!!!!! VERY happy for you, Spem & proud of you, too!!!!! Happy for you because of the room, and proud because of how you transitioned into it. Talk about a learning experience!!!!!!
When I moved out of my room after a bad roommate situation, my roommate actually got MAD at me for it (not that I cared) and complained to our other suitemates that I would move out. I was like But then, I also didn't tell her until I was almost completely moved out. Like you, I wanted to wait until it was final, but I found out that MORNING that I was moving that afternoon and she worked until 5, so she got back from work to find me mostly moved out. I think she was mostly upset that I took my loft with me (my dad had built it to loft my bed) and so her futon no longer fit in the room.

And to get mad at you for taking your furniture...that's even more . My roommate was so great. When I told her, she just said "I completely understand." I was relieved. It was really hard for me to tell the suitemates (because I was so nervous) and so she made it loads easier. She also said I could keep the stuff she lent me until the end of semester - such a kind girl! I'm currently sitting in my new room It's fantastic! I got the best sleep last night that I've had in ages. I could actually do stuff at 6am. I have space to chill, and a place to listen to my music and to pray. I feel more at peace. It's just amazing. Thanks pham for being so supportive and so helpful. Couldn't have done it without you
