One day, one of the Sisters asked me if I would like to join - I was shocked at the thought and immediately said "No!" But, she planted a seed in my heart that has continued to grow since that day eight years ago. While a student at CUA, I first saw active Sisters in the habit - they were so young, joyful and, as Divine Providence would have it, Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. During this time I discovered True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis de Montfort and developed a renewed devotion to daily Mass and the Holy Rosary. After a retreat with the Dominican Sisters of Mary, I felt sure I had a vocation to religious life. Unfortunately, the distractions of the world dulled my desire for religious life. I moved all over the country and earned a degree in nursing. I’ve had success and adventure – but my heart longs for more, for God. During Lent 2012, my heart was transformed by God’s grace and I knew that I could remain neutral no longer: God is calling me to Himself and I must go! Thank you Fr. Stanislaw Zak, Sr. Francis Marie, and Sr. Mary Judith for all the love and wisdom you’ve shared with me.

One moment that particularly stands out is a family mission trip to Guatemala. It was on this trip that I first desired to give my life for Christ and His people. I just wasn’t sure how He wanted me to do that! The mission trip and other events in high school enkindled the flame of love; however, that flame smoldered as I focused on my own plans and choices, which left me feeling empty and longing for something greater. During college, I met faithful young people who inspired me to seek the joy I had been missing—joy that could only be found in the Lord! After going on retreat with the Dominican Sisters of Mary in 2009, my faith was reignited, and I found myself falling in love with Christ and the Church. As my studies continued at Purdue University, God started calling me to give everything. Through His abundant grace, I applied during my senior year and was accepted for entrance into the Community. Undoubtedly, this Fiat, a “yes” without reserve, will have its trials along with great joy, but I just place all my trust in Jesus’ boundless love and mercy! I am so grateful for my two parish families, St. Joseph and St. Thomas Aquinas, especially our priests, for their constant prayers and support.

It looks like someone was taking a picture by putting the lens right up to Sister's poor nose!

At least you can tell she is super happy! :)
