jrndveritatis
In a recent conversation someone told me that Thomas Aquinas' understanding of predestination is Calvinistic. Now this comes from a guy who completely respects Aquinas and holds him as the linchpin of his philosophy, so he is not a Thomas-basher. Does anyone have any info on this? Sorry I don't know exactly what passages in the Summa he was referring to. Any Thomists out there? How is Aquinas' doctrine of predestination different from the Calvinist doctrine? EcceNovaFacioOmni
St. Thomas Aquinas was not a Calvinist. Calvinism is called double-predestination, while Aquina's form is known as "Thomism". Here is a good link on Catholic predestination: http://ic.net/~erasmus/RAZ120.HTM Also, I am pretty sure we have a Thomist on this forum if you'd like to talk to him. Aloysius
i think our resident Thomist is in theological crises... at least last time i checked there was that "thomist vs mollinist" debate a while back.. i think it came to some sort of conclusion but i forget what it was.
