Catholicterp7
A few of us were on chat talking about things we've written and we decided to make a thread to share poems and song lyrics. This is the most recent poem I wrote. It's called Via Dolerosa The path that Christ trod was no easy path. Through the narrow winding streets He went, bruised, beaten and bloody until he was near unrecognizable. Carrying a tremendous weight on His shoulder for you and me. The city streets were not the worst of it, oh no, for after the streets came the hill. The hill on which He knew He was to die. This was no mere grassy hill, no this was more like unto a mountain. Rocky, steep and with hardly a path to follow up the side. Still He continued to walk, still He continued to carry His cross for you and me. As He started up this hill, if we can call it such, He grew so weak that as He walked He felt His legs start to give out. He tried to find the strength to continue but His body refuesed. With His skin already torn from the whips His knees strike the gound as He falls. Under the great weight of His cross, the weight of our sins, He falls to the ground with a thud. He winces and cries out in gut-wrenching agony. He lays still for a moment, hearing the cries of the crowd and the mocking of the soldiers. As He lays still He remembers the cries of the people "Crucify Him. We have no king but Ceaser. We want Barabas" He remembers and instead of being filled with hate and anger He is moved to pity, mercy and love. The love that surges through Him gives Him the grace to pick up His cross again and carry on. He endured the pain and anguish not once, nor twice but three times. Three times He fell to the gounrd, three times His bloody, bruised knees hit the rocky street, three times He heard their mocking cries, and three times love for you and me compelled Him to continue on. All of this He did for you, the pain, the humiliation, the sorrow and the suffering, all done for love of you and me. Knowing the pain He endured for love of you, what will your response be? Will you, for love of Him, embrace your cross and run to Him? Will you, for love of Him, continue on after you fall? Will you endure the mocking cries and hateful jeers of those around you? Will you find the courage to forgive those people instead of act against them? Will you pick up your cross and carry it joyfully as a gift of love back to Him? Share away JMJ+

TheUbiquitous
Naked, bleeding everlasting truth To splintering hate may be bound. Heaven thunders, Terra wonders What provokes the sound. Innocently, smith at forge bears Bloody well-ordered fools. Heaven thunders, Terra wonders Why men may not be tools. Stoic strength sapped stiffly, grinding Mill'd, stew'd, ghostly, fading, stretched. Heaven stands, Terra lies Plainer, ever blander, not transparent --- yet. *fingersnaps* Dire as a child sacrifice Terrible as for the love of God Come destroyer, whose very name decieves --- --- a little white lie. If into, as, for this dust approaches little white truth Does anyone lose? Broken things surround a whole Dirties yet not staining it. Cataracts seeing, accusing of holes. If it should ever be, Be not for lack of effort. *fingersnaps* Jesus said, "Go, children, show all the truth," Some hear, "Put on a show," worse yet, "Show off." That's why we feel like they're putting us on. (Therefore, they're turning us off.) Man set afire will silence the scene When neither flailing nor making a sound. We care for fire which gives out no smoke, We must not blow it lest we come unbound. *fingersnaps* White sand coats in cresting dunes a plain too plain for raving loons. Thickset lenses blind the eyes, threadbare footnotes man's own prize. Filth exalt and truth ignore, patterns, patterns we deplore. Tear the sheet, man, spread the dirt, blind yourself, bend, twist, subvert! Unwashed, careful, cradle grit Left alone and ne'er submit. When so pure the one exception know all things with preconception. Know no thing, for ever next live for failure, live for wrecks. Sooner live to see a breach --- soon forget the warm, fine beach. *throw tomatoes*
