Annie12
So, I know my post in the prayer room was pretty despret. This is because my parents are forcing me to go to a college that I don't want to go to. I just went along with it until yesterday when I really realized just how much I don't want to go there. Now, I'm the one being blamed for waiting too long to decide this. I don't know about anyone else but I know I don't want to spend $15,000 on one semester that I will most likely end up failing. My parents seem to think I have no choice in the matter because they already put down the $500 deposite. I told them that I want to get a job instead and pay them back the deposite and then go to community college the following semester. I feel like I know what I am doing but my parents don't even want to disscuss it with me. I really don't know what to do. I have never heard of parents wanting to spend so much money on a daughter. What should I do? P.s. maybe I am to blame but I want to make this all right. I don't want college to be a repeat of my high school days. I have a SUPER hard time with academics. Edited August 29, 2012 by Annie12

Annie12
Thats what I thought! I really don't know why they're doing this. I didn't think they wanted me to move out that bad... Edited August 29, 2012 by Annie12
Papist
Stop blaming yourself. You can't control your parents. I believe being up front and honest with them. which it seems you are. I would stop telling them you don't want to go to college. But rather share your fears with them, especially the fear of disappointing them. homeschoolmom
I'm not sure what's motivating your parents, but I'm assuming you are and adult (even if you are a pretty new one). The outcome of taking out extensive student loans will be yours-- both good (education) and bad (debt). Please don't do this if you are truly not interested/ready. I even had wrote out a plan of what I want to do with this next semester; but of course it was to no avail!

I would want to know if you will be responsible for the debt accrued with their plan. If you do go, you need to do your best to make good grades. Don't set out to prove your parents wrong, but rather prove yourself wrong. Also, no ones says you need to major in astrophysics, right? The degree is a lot of reading and its generally the college, it's prides its self on reading. I am not a good reader. It's just fact. But I don't know. I don't think I have a choice.
