CatherineM
Zack just finished his first week of school. I think we definitely picked the right school. It is a charter school that goes year round. They feed the kids breakfast and lunch cooked by the culinary students. They get dinner if they stay for after school programs like yoga or akkido. Best of all, is the student/teacher ratio. His math class has 7 kids and his English class has 10. It's all kids who have had trouble staying in school, like kids who have been bullied or in and out of foster care. The school secretary is a friend from church, so I have a spy right where I need it. My mom had her spies at school for us, so I guess I take after her more than I'm usually willing to admit. I can almost hear the hound, "Yup one of my humans is using me as a pillow again. It's okay though, they rub my belly after and scratch my big floppy ears." CatherineM
They make very good pillows, if a bit smelly at times. My first class is Introduction to Archeology. I get my books today or tomorrow. I'm very excited. The seminary is still sending me emails. I don't think it has sunk in with them yet that I'm not attending this fall. The hubby is doing remarkably well in the new dad stuff.

franciscanheart
I went to a charter. I didn't love it, but I hope it's a good fit for him. At the very least, it made sure I wasn't a high school drop-out. Love the pic.
CatherineM
Just got final approval for our new foster son, named James to move in September 1st. It only took the province 5 months to finish the paperwork. We are starting the paperwork now for another developmentally disabled boy who is aging out if foster care in a couple of months. He's a childhood friend of Zack's. Prayers are needed all around obviously.
CatherineM
I'm almost positive that the speakers on my old lady mini van weren't designed to play the music they are right now. At least my ears aren't bleeding.

AnneLine
Catherine, I am starting to think of the DeBolt Family.....and Cheaper by the Dozen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Are_the_DeBolts%3F_And_Where_Did_They_Get_Nineteen_Kids%3F http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheaper_by_the_Dozen
CatherineM
We'll need more condos for a dozen kids. That's how many they want us to take. Fetal alcohol is huge here. Drinking age is 18 and the culture is to let kids drink earlier at home. My husband had a meeting yesterday with the lady who runs the program for the province and she said the problem is more girls of child bearing years are binge drinking routinely. The real damage happens in the first month of pregnancy when the neural bundles in the brain develope. So by the time a girl finds out she is pregnant, the damage is already done. She said everyone is worried about the effect of the aging baby boomers on the health system. That's going to be a small bomb compared to what is going to happen as more kids are born with serious developmental deficiets. We have already begun talking to the man next door about buying his suite. It's a three bedroom and a one bedroom across the hall may come up for sale soon. I need to finish my next book to pay for it all. My editor is going to have my legs broke if I don't hurry anyway.
