OnlySunshine
This week, I started school full-time. 3 classes are online and I was taking Human Anatomy & Physiology with the lab on campus. Monday, I drove to school and the "Service Engine Soon" light came on while headed there but went off about 1 minute later. I was able to get to school OK, though. Then, on the way back, the light came back on half-way home. It stayed on until I reached my subdivision. I had a lot of work done on the car recently so I thought this was a fluke or a faulty fuse. I told my mom about it and she thought the same thing. Fast forward to Wednesday, I was driving to school again and noticed the temperature gauge was rising and water was not being pumped into it. I can usually tell because the gauge fluctuates a little to show water has been pumped into the radiator. I pulled over immediately because the car started overheating to let it razzle dazzle off. I let it razzle dazzle down for 30 minutes before driving it home. Then, when my mom came home, we took it to the maintenance shop. I had to miss school in the first week -- not good at all! I got a call today after the mechanic looked at it and he said the radiator is shot, hoses are leaking, and the fan is not running like it should. He also said that the engine gaskets (that they had been monitoring) needed to be replaced because they were cracked. He wants $970 to fix the bulk of what is wrong with the car to get it running. My jaw about hit the floor! My car is 20 years old and is reaching 100k miles (it was owned by an elderly couple before I owned it). There is absolutely no guarantee that this will fix it completely and, even if it did, it's not really worth it to pay the amount that the car is worth. Nonetheless, I'm having to decide whether to drop the course on campus before tomorrow so I can get the money back and take another course online. Please pray that I can figure this out by tomorrow! I have to call my dad in 15 minutes to talk to him.
