My mom carries the Glock 22 on duty as well. Also has a 19 at home. I would love a Beretta 92FS as a first handgun, although that may be beyond my means when that time comes. :P

Your mom carries a Glock 22 when on duty, what kind of children does she have, animals? Man , may God bless the poor woman having to be armed to the teeth while doing the laundry or cooking in case her wild offspring suddenly attack, I had heard you Canadians do get driven crazy with your 10 months of winter. Rabid, man!

Does she have a backup, piece in case one of you wrestle her main carry away during a struggle ?

Ah, the good old New York reload. :smile3: Apparently that's not allowed here. I thought it was a good idea though.
Actually, I'm not sure her waist is big enough for a second holster anyway. She isn't very big.

I think it's good because it lets kids develop the fundamentals without the pain that comes with a higher caliber that kicks.
[/quote]Suitable that you posted this in a thread about homosexuality.

I understand everyone's points. Gay marriage is detrimental to society. I don't disagree.

Previously, when I said, "Who cares if people are gay or they get a civil marriage or union. It has nothing to do with the church and the sacrament."... it may have been misunderstood.

Just like I might say, "Who cares if a Protestant church is pro-choice, it has nothing to do with the church's teaching on the matter." -or- "Who cares if 99% of Catholics use contraception, it doesn't change the church's teaching". -or- "who cares if over half of marriages end in divorce, it doesn't mean that it is acceptable".

That's all my inability to talk good. Of course I care.

My main point was that the "gay marriage" issue is always made to look like it is the most important issue facing us today--and is portrayed in the media as somehow being the primary battle the Church is waging war on right now. In my opinion, I simply don't think it is. I think there are many more important issues that I would rather see the church "tagged" with.

...all this to say, I still don't understand why Socrates is so mean to me.

Because I'm a mean old bastard.

Thanks for the clarification. You had posted elsewhere in favor of replacing state recognition of marriage with "civil unions" for anyone who wants them, which is in contradiction to Church teaching on the matter (per the prior-cited CDF document), so that was the cause of my misunderstanding. I felt fraternal correction on this matter was needed. If I misunderstood your stance, I apologize.

I agree that the whole "gay rights" nonsense is part of a bigger crisis, and we wouldn't be dealing with this mess today if our culture hadn't long ago lost all sight of the sacredness and meaning of marriage and human sexuality in general.

This thread wasn't started by a Catholic, but an anti-Catholic, and I don't think it's fair to complain about Catholics responding to it.
This issue gets discussed excessively primarily because it's an issue the Church is now commonly attacked with.
People simply don't pop on here that often defending adultery, murder, rape, or defrauding the poor.

As I see it, it's not the Church waging war on homosexuals, but rather homosexualist activists waging war on the Church and her teachings. Homosexual issues have become a political "hot topic" in the secular world, with the political push for "gay marriage" and such, and thus such controversy gets more attention. Catholics are fighting more a defensive battle here, rather than an offensive campaign.
