Kathleen777
Hello everyone! Here I am, back to Kathleen now after being Sr. Kathleen Marie for 11 years! I decided to check into Phattmass today after a long time and found this thread about older vocations and me! I returned to secular life (and my secular Franciscan community) in August 2011 when my youngest son needed me for a time. I am a widow of 19 years, a mother and a grandmother. I was first with the Handmaids of Nazareth from 2000-2007 and when they folded, another Sister and I discerned with our Spiritual Director appointed from Cardinal George and with the Cardinal that perhaps we were to form a new community. We started "The Project" called, The Sisters of the Real Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Chicago under the direction of the Cardinal. After 3 years (in 2010) due to the other Sisters illness and family obligation we closed the project. I was able to join and begin Novitiate in the Franciscan Handmaids of the Immaculate in Bellingham, MA in Nov. 2010. Due to family needs I returned home to Steubenville, OH as I said earlier, in 2011. I began to look into and discern Consecrated Widowhood last fall. I researched for myself then began to reach out to other women that I found on the internet that have been consecrated as widows or want to become one. I started a Facebook page called, Catholic Consecrated Widows. I hope in the next few months to discuss this with our new Bishop of Steubenville after he has settled in. My hope and prayer is that he will be open to this and afterwards all of us will pursue adding it to Canon Law and making this unique vocation known to all Catholic widows who are called to it. If any widows want to contact me check out the Facebook page or email me at: consecrated.widow@yahoo.com God Bless You! Kathleen Marshall
