I saw a thread on Catholic Answers Forums that was started by a Sister. Here is her original post. I will post the link to the thread after the quote.

Peace and Greetings to You in Our Lord Jesus Christ!

I am Sr. Kathleen Marie and I just joined this forum and left a message for new members. However, I want to start a discussion in regards to Vocations to the Religious Life for women who are older. I am the Co-Foundress of a new "Project" (the Church's term) of a new community of women who hope to one day be cannonical approved as consecrated Religious Sisters in the Archdiocese of Chicago. We are; [b]The Sisters of The Real Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We will accept older women and women that have some special health needs as long as they can care for themselves. We will be monastic/active which means we will pray the entire Divine Office everyday, Eucharistic Adoration and live in community. Our Apostolate will be missionary in that we will go out to evangelize by teaching the truths of our Catholic Faith (at schools, conferences, etc.). We will do this by using the Arts (Sacred Arts) such as Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Performane, Acting, Music, etc. It will be serious and fun! We will wear traditional long black habits and veils. We have been and will continue to work with the Archdiocese of Chicago in all that we do. Call 1-773-984-8725, email: SRPOLJC@catholic.org or mail: P.O. Box 587 Summit, IL 60501.
-- We think that their is a great need to Proclaim and Defend the truths of our Catholic faith (our fourth vow). Do you? Let's talk.

I saw that as well - if you look it's from like 4 years ago. Further down the topic someone noted that they no longer exist.

Aw... Sorry! I suppose looking at dates and perhaps reading comments might be a tiny bit important.

For reasons I cannot disclose, she and the other foundress decided to disband. Kathleen is, however, still wanting a community for older vocations and consecrated widows. I can let her know if there is any interest.

Blessings,
Gemma

Miles, a word to the growing wiser.... this is one of those topics where replying with humor might not be ideal. An 'I am so sorry... I'll do better next time.' might be a better tack.... for a lot of people this is a really HARD topic... kind of like joking with a woman who wants to get pregnant.... hurts too much to be funny. OK? Thanks!

Oh, I was originally being very serious. Later on I wasn't, but at first I was. I will take your advice, though. Thanks!

Thank YOU, Miles -- both for your serious post -- and for thinking of the older discerners who WOULDL have been interested... and for understanding the correction. You're getting so much more... thoughful & charitable... over the last year -- it's a joy to see. Keep it up!!!! :winner:

Thank you FP.

I am guilty of not reading comments and viewing an article from 10 years ago as recent news also....Always read the comments, my friend. :)

That really is too bad about her community. Hopefully the Holy Spirit will work to keep bringing about these female communities for older vocations. It is obvious that they are desired. Praying.

If I may shamelessly boast for a moment about a great accomplishment today, I was very proud of myself on Catholic Answers Forums. If you thought I was bad on here a year ago, you should have seen me on Catholic Answers Forums before getting on here. I was a complete mess and needless to say I may have gotten into a few heated debates with a Franciscan and Carmelite Friar (Both of whom are good friends now), and I posted in a thread today and I got this response: http://forums.cathol...t=704938&page=2 (I am ATeutonicKnight. Look for post #30) I know it isn't good to boast, but I was proud for a moment because for once I was praised and not scolded. :hehe:

Yeah you had a MASSIVE go at me once about something ridiculously dumb. But like AnneLine said, even since I've been here you've grown up a lot!
