Sometimes I Wonder

If I am truly repentant for the awful things in my past, will I be forgiven when I have my first confession this coming Easter when I complete RCIA? Some are mortal sins (lust based and envy based, doubting God and hiding my faith in the past, etc.) I truly believe in God now and am actively aiming to strengthen my faith, I practice abstinance now and try to avoid impure things that could tempt me, and I am trying t learn to be thankful of the things in my life, what the Lord has blessed me with rather than always thinking of what I want. When I feel envious, I try to think of the things the Lord has blessed me with. Its hard sometimes living in a world of excess, but I'm trying. I'm ashamed of my past, and I am just worried that I will tell the priest everything and he'll tell me I'm too late.

I promise you that the priest won't tell that you are too late. I've worked in RCIA for over 25 years. I've seen people after their first confessions and I've never seen defeat or discouragement on their faces. I usually see relief, excitement, glee, and grace beyond measure.
