Knight of Christ, I keep wanting to refer to you as Chicken Man. Would you mind terribly if I did? It's not meant as an offense, it's just how your name comes across to me.

Can I call you Chicken Man?

Such as the personal observation that EF-only parishes tend to cultivate an attitude of disrespect for the Church's norms?

I don't mean to offend - just making an observation. :|

Judging parishes like that isn't the best of ideas for both sides.

You may call me your brother in Christ. That is how I want and would want to refer to you if not by your screen name or real name if I knew you irl.

Nihil Obstat

"I now come to the positive reason which motivated my decision to issue this Motu Proprio updating that of 1988. It is a matter of coming to an interior reconciliation in the heart of the Church. Looking back over the past, to the divisions which in the course of the centuries have rent the Body of Christ, one continually has the impression that, at critical moments when divisions were coming about, not enough was done by the Church’s leaders to maintain or regain reconciliation and unity. One has the impression that omissions on the part of the Church have had their share of blame for the fact that these divisions were able to harden. This glance at the past imposes an obligation on us today: to make every effort to enable for all those who truly desire unity to remain in that unity or to attain it anew. I think of a sentence in the Second Letter to the Corinthians, where Paul writes: “Our mouth is open to you, Corinthians; our heart is wide. You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections. In return … widen your hearts also!” (2 Cor 6:11-13). Paul was certainly speaking in another context, but his exhortation can and must touch us too, precisely on this subject. Let us generously open our hearts and make room for everything that the faith itself allows."

That's kinda long-winded, though. Can we come to a compromise? How about Colonel?

I'm not going to nick pick on your personal generalizations. It just wouldn't be razzle dazzle to the brethren of PM if a traddy made a similar comment.

Brother would more respectful to Christian charity.

I'll make a similar comment, then - since, believe it or not, I'm a traddy. It seems to me that the lack of proper instruction in OF parishes around the country for the last few decades has led to a crisis of faith for millions of believers.

And I'll stand by that remark just as much as I stand by my other one.

Still not judging anyone, though...

That may be true, but I feel like you and I are past that, now. We're practically old buddies! And buddies have nicknames for each other. I feel like we would be closer if we could use nick names.

Would you allow me to call you Colonel just to humor me?

Well given that this alone is what separates us from any other belief and there's is no reason to be catholic if we don't believe it, I really have no idea why you seem to find it contemptible.

Christ is present at the Mass 100% of the time.

I am referring to the OP. On here it's easy to say what we want or how we feel, in practice it's much harder(as always). If nothing else this whole thread, while very good in its essence is just degenerating to patting backs and rallying around an elitist Catholic mentality. Sorry if I'm using blanket statements or generalizations, but I've been around here long enough to know the attitude and it kills me, because I feel like it totally ignores the fact that Faith is Hard.

It wouldn't make a difference if you were from mars. The reverse would not be razzle dazzle or liked. I really don't like generalizing parishes ie groups of people. And no you may not mock me I lost all humor in the time war on Gallifrey.

Huh - well so far nobody even seemed to notice that a traddy was generalizing about the OF.

I'm not mocking you - I happen to think a nick name derivation from KFC would be pretty cool.

I know not about this time war on Gallifrey. Google tells me it's from Doctor Who - I'll just have to leave that one alone...
