Wow, I'm sure you have gotten this a million times over. I have trouble confessing my problems with chastity... I usually just say "i've broken all 10 commandments to various degrees" because I dont like to say what I've done beyond that because im ashamed and its just awkward especially when its not a private confession and you are talking to your Priest. Is saying youve broken all 10 commandments to various degrees not a real confession? Am I not really absolved?

From the Code of Canon Law
CHAPTER III : THE PENITENT

Can. 987 In order that the faithful may receive the saving remedy of the sacrament of penance, they must be so disposed that, repudiating the sins they have committed and having the purpose of amending their lives, they turn back to God.

Can. 988 §1 The faithful are bound to confess, in kind and in number, all grave sins committed after baptism, of which after careful examination of conscience they are aware, which have not yet been directly pardoned by the keys of the Church, and which have not been confessed in an individual confession.

§2 The faithful are recommended to confess also venial sins.

Can. 989 All the faithful who have reached the age of discretion are bound faithfully to confess their grave sins at least once a year.

I know how difficult it is to mention sexual sins in the confesional however we don't seem to have the same trouble confessing a sin against charity. One old priest said to me in his experience there were more sins against charity than against chastity.

I would encourage you to speak to a priest privately and explain your difficulties. Sometimes when we speak our difficulties outaloud we find they are not too difficult. You should find the priest understanding
