Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I don't particularly like being "buddy-buddy" with people that I meet after mass (also because most of them are are about 50 years older than I). It actually annoys me when people are too "chummy". I go to Mass to pray and be with the Lord (so maybe I get an "F" on the fellowship thing... the protestants are much better at it, so I'll just let them keep it!) I'm not saying that you are annoying, but some people just like to be quiet after Mass. I think it's a great suggestion that Lil Red made to try and join some groups or something. That way it's more of a "people meeting" situation. Also, where are you from? Your SN makes me think that you are not American. Do you live in America? What you are experiencing MIGHT actually be a cultural difference, perceived by you as coldness on the part of others. I've had many different intercultural experiences and have seen this A LOT!
I was at a friday nght group but it closed down, unsure why. But indeed i will talk to the deacon or priest asap at the parish i started attending recently. I met the youth group director but i think it is for young youth not middle youth, but i will ask him.
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
You should try to get to know someone before giving them your number. Find activities to do with the parish as others have suggested. Getting to know people and creating friendships can be a slow process. So you shouldn't think bad of yourself if people do not automatically want to be your friend. Mass and right after Mass while still in the nave (the area where you and the people sit) isn't the best place to be trying to make friends. That area is for focusing upon God on the altar. But after Mass and after you've left the nave when you're at the door or outside while you wait to shake Father's hand (assuming he does that) you can say hello to people and maybe spark a short conversion. Then try to do that every Sunday with different folks and over time those interactions may grow into a friendship and then you can give your new friend your phone number.
You see me as a chatter box that would interupt random people i sit next to in the holy mass? That saddens me you would think so but it shouldn't sadden me because it's your buisness not mine, think what you will. And yes i like to chat after mass outside of the church building.
What parish has a cafeteria in it?!
I know 2 parishes in my city that saved the money to build a small building next to there church buildings to do as such. Just trying to cover all the bases. Sometimes it is hard for me to understand what you're trying to say.
Doesn't matter anyhow, i had a momment of light schism, not against GOD and the holy catholic church as a whole so my title was wrong, the catholic church has not made me queezy. I make me queezy because surely it is me that isn't doing enough, blame or lament the truth still is GOD saves so i must run to him more. The vatican councils as far as i'm aware have never let me down (but i don't know much of the contents of these.), the papal encyclicals i have read have never let me down, holy scripture has never let me down, only once has the holy mass let me down and it wasn't the holy mass it was the priest deciding to sing happy birthday for someone before the gifts cam down the aisle, and the holy sacraments have never let me down, nore prayer in general or meditating on the holy mysteries of the holy rosary and praying WITH the holy mother. For me these are the brightest and the guiding lights of the holy catholic church and these have never let me down. So i retract from the title i issued for this thread, i'm not so smart with my wording half the time. And if i stick close to and focus mainly on the guiding lights of the holy catholic church, what does it matter about individual choices in the holy catholic church. All i can do when faced with someone i wan't to complain about is pray for them if they don't wan't to talk. I can pursue conversation again and again but there has to be a time where i have to let go and pray though i should be praying anyway. Onward christian souls. JESUS iz LORD. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I guess to sum up my previous post, i must always take into consideration that it may be me and not another, without crucifying myself. Saint ? "The sanctity of our own lives convert X." Sorry, i have temporarily forgotten the name of the saint that said that.
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
And i don't talk after holy mass in the church building, because one of the parishes i was at the priest always asked everyone to not chat after mass and to go outside or to the church building next door that held a cafeteria after holy mass. The parish building is meant to be a place of prayer not idle chit chat. I know and believe this, but than i don't live this belief out 100%, sometimes at weekday mass at the new parish i'm at somone will say 'hello tobias' before holy mass or after so i polietly smile and say hello but try to avoid entering into a conversation. I think i'm being pomp on this matter and desiring to be loved more than desiring to love, people do say hello to me, i just wish it was outside after holy mass. And the parish i'm at does have a meet up after thursday mass i think it is, But i'm iffy about it because it's mainly old women and st paul said that where not meant to talk to married women on matters of faith that that is between her and her husband. Maybe there all widows i don't know ?
