There needs to be some kind of "mega-prop" option.

Somehow I can almost hear Yoda going, "Begun the Prop War has."

Probably because it'd be SUPER AWKWARD for a priest to be picking up a dropped host off of a woman's...person. And men don't have as many...surfaces...on which a consecrated host could land... :hehe2:

I'm cracking up about this!!!! rotfl rotfl

Something similar happened to me once. The host fell and I couldn't find it anywhere... I was freaking out in front of the priest who is thinking "what is wrong with you?" because I guess he didn't realize that it has slipped. Anyway, I finally found it in my sleeve. I was wearing a habit at the time and my big sleeve had scooped it up. What a relief!!!!!

Nihil Obstat

I think we (Moosey's family and I) freaked out the local parish priest. All of a sudden he's got nine people in a row making a profound bow or genuflecting, then receiving on the tongue. "Did the indult end and I didn't get the memo?"
It seems to be marginally more common in the US than in Canada.

And I totally get you on awkward; this one time a woman in front of me actually went down to full genuflect so I came to a pause and the line nearly bowled me over! So yeah, usually do the hand also.

I love to genuflect before receiving.
No one genuflects where I am, and so when I saw my Sisters doing it, and people in other dioceses doing it, I thought it was an excellent, novel idea. It was just so reverent. I decided to try it back at my home parish; the EMHC glared at me so cuelly I almost melted. ....apparently my bishop gave an order not to genuflect.
But I still wish we could. It wouldn't be half so awkward if more people did it.

Perhaps the people are changing. I just recently started to genuflect.

PS - Good to "see" ya

I would do it if I didn't feel so awkward. I make a profound bow as it is, but my Sisters genuflect before receiving and I love it. Though I did see a woman do it at Mass today, she's the only one I've seen outside my community.

I'd feel better if I just saw people make any sign of reverence before receiving, a little bowing would go far.

Um, I can't take communion under the species of the bread. It really upsets my brother when he has touch God so I suggested to him that if it looks as though the people distributing communion are incapable of cott, bypass them and receive only the blood.

At my school parish we have special EMHC training. I've had many communicants who receive on the tongue, which is totally fine and ok. But I cannot stand it when someone wants to receive on the tongue but barely opens their mouth (known in our parish as the "slot machine way"). I don't want to drop Jesus. I need something to put him on, or at least an open mouth!

:nun: Thankfully though most who receive on the tongue make it clear that is there intention and open their mouths.

I low that my children often kneel with me when I receive. The only downside is if I'm receiving from an EMHC, as I can't get the kids to scoot out of the way in time. I might not be able to kneel much longer, we'll see. Or, rather, it might just take me too long to get up with my growing baby bump.

You can't receive the host b/c your brother does not like to touch God? That does not compute.

No. Two different statements. I cannot eat wheat. He finds touching God upsetting to the point of tears (he's 9)
