EmilyAnn
. . . by receiving COTT. He was clearly not expecting it and you could tell it threw him. Unfortunately it gets worse. He didn't do it properly and dropped the Eucharist! Thank God I decided to wear my blue headscarf today because if I'd worn my black veil like I'd been planning the Eucharist would have dropped on the floor. Thank God it just landed in my scarf and I was able to quickly pick it up and consume it. I have scrutinised my scarf to make sure there were no particles of the Eucharist left on it. But I nearly had a panic attack for a second at first because I thought the Eucharist might have fallen on the floor. I'm not really sure why I'm posting this. I guess it's because y'all are the only Catholics I really know. But yeah, I'm still a little freaked out.
OnlySunshine
I don't understand why some EMHCs act as though people never receive on the tongue anymore. They can't do it right or don't like to because they don't want to accidentally touch the person's mouth. I'm an EMHC and I often get communicants who want to receive on the tongue. Doesn't phase me one bit. However, there was one time where someone wanted to receive OTT and they didn't do it properly. I placed it on his tongue and he didn't immediately consume it so it fell on the floor. He gave me a hard time for a second but it wasn't my fault. I tried it again with a different host and he finally did it right.
BG45
It took me a moment to figure out what COTT was lol. I'm really glad He fell on your scarf though! I pretty much gave up trying to recieve on the tongue, I never found an EMHC that actually knew what I was doing.
Adrestia
I have found that parishes with large Latino communities tend to have EMHC that can handle COTT. When I joined my current parish, they used intinction for the precious blood, so all EMHC did COTT. Our bishop decided to ban intinction, so some of the new EMHC aren't so good at COTT, but they will learn.
Aragon
My regular parish is EF, and the OF parishes I go to only allow priests to distribute communion, but why not try to make for the priests line?

fides' Jack
I think the scarf needs to be, uh, what's the word, consecrated? When the host falls on the floor, the priest is supposed to visit that spot later on and do something special. Hmm... can't find info on it - maybe it's not the norm anymore... Anyone else know what I'm talking about? Edit: I think the word would be purified. Edited August 15, 2012 by fides' Jack
fides' Jack
Nevermind: 45. If a consecrated host or any particle of it falls to the ground or floor, it is to be taken up reverently, a little water is to be poured over the place where it fell, and the place is to be dried with a purificator. If it falls on clothing, the clothing need not be washed. If it falls on a woman's clothing, the woman herself is to take the particle and consume it. Interesting to me that it specifically mentions women's clothing - but not men's. And men don't have as many...surfaces...on which a consecrated host could land...

IcePrincessKRS
This past Sunday the EMHC tried to stick the host in my clasped hands. He looked up at my face and I shook my head, I had had my mouth open my when he tried to go for my hands I know I closed my mouth and gave him a funny look. lol I've been going to this parish for nearly 3 years and he's given me Communion before. It's not like this is a new thing. He got it right and I received COTT because I wasn't going to put my hands up for him. It was actually kind of funny. EmilyAnn
Become a EMHC yourself and education them.
I so would, but I think my parish has enough. Plus I'm leaving in a year so it would seem a waste of training.
