Egidio
AVE MARIA! After reading several posts, it seems that there is much difficulty and a little anxiety reguarding spiritual direction. I suppose that it is a good sign, a sign that many really want to find God's Holy Will and strive to live it out faithfully. I have been tempted to write a small treatise on the subject for everyone, but it seems to me that many good and holy people have beat me to it...therefore i will leave you with their wisdom. Here, http://www.theway.or.../26Chalmers.pdf , you will find a short (9 pages) article of the thoughts of St Teresa of Avila on Spiritual direction, both for directors and directees. Or here, http://newtheologica...l-director.html , is given a much shorter summary of the problem of direction. Spiritual direction is a very personal thing, so we must not be surprised that it is often difficult to find a SD who seems to 'fit'. We must be faithful to our spiritual life, calling often upon the Holy Spirit and Our Blessed Mother, the Spouse of the Holy Spirit for Guidance. May you all have a blessed, happy and HOLY feast day of the Assumption of Mary. AVE MARIA!!
miles Christi
+ from today’s Laudes: “Who directed the spirit of the Lord? Who gave Him advice in His task? With whom did He consult? Who taught Him? Who led Him in the paths of justice, gave Him knowledge, showed Him the way of understanding?†Isaiah
LouisvilleFan
I see it much like finding a spouse or employment: you keep asking and looking until you find a good match.
