As we all are aware vice president Joe Biden has been known to say regrettable things. However, I think he out-did himself with this one: http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/biden-invokes-paul-ryans-deceased-father-question-vp-candidates-values_649913.html

I'm not making fun of him and this thread is not for that, but I think we can all agree a good  is in order.

I don't understand the problem. He didn't say anything negative about Ryan's father or imply that Ryan's father would be ashamed of him (like Reid did with Romney, which was a rather despicable thing to do). Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see the problem.

Groo the Wanderer

As a Catholic, I see nothing wrong with referring to one's deceased relatives in the present tense. My Mom died 2 years ago. I celebrate her birthday now on the day she died, because it was her birth into eternal life. I talk to her frequently as well.

Joe Biden is a tardball and an embarrassment to our faith (as are SO MANY politicians), but in this case I don't see an issue.

Negative props to you FP for making me agree with Hasan!!

I was tired and I actually read it incorrectly. I actually don't see a problem with it either. I need to give negative props to myself for agreeing with Hasan as well...

It's not totally your fault. National Review seemed to be implying that there was something wrong with what he said. But at this point in the election cycle you need to be careful. Both sides are going to be trying to turn every single comment the other sides makes into some huge issue. I'm a bit sorry that the National review did this. I personally like their periodical.

I'll be sure to look out. For some reason this election year is getting ugly and people are using anything as ammunition. This is odd. I don't think the political world has ever done this before.

I'm rather hoping Free Beacon is quoting Joe Biden out of context here, sort of like Weekly Standard set that up.
VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: They’ve said it. Every Republican’s voted for it. Look at what they value and look at their budget and what they’re proposing. Romney wants to let the—he said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules–unchain Wall Street. They’re going to put y’all back in chains. He’s said he’s going to do nothing about stopping the practice of outsourcing…
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye

My grandpa used to sing in the kitchen. Sometimes he would replace the names of the people in his song with the names of people he loved, and possibly edited the rest of the song to his preferences. It sounded all like 1940's love music, i miss hearing this so occasionally i will try and sing a song out loud at home.

As far as I can see, National Review didn't have anything to do with this.

I've certainly heard much dumber from Biden.

I think warning the black people that us whitey Republicans are going to put them in chains is the topper on his cake.
