I would think you can apply the same make-up guidelines for attending Sunday Mass. I know I am missing something, but why would a wedding be any different?

1) I never knew there were guidelines for makeup at Sunday Mass. ;)
2) I don't typically go to Mass in a floor-length gown with a fancy hairdo. Typically, your makeup style should match the formality of your attire and the occasion.
3) Pictures.

Still don't get it.

not that I have to.

It's also not just a nuptial mass. It's typically a photo shoot afterwards followed by a reception and dance.

So true...
If you are spending money to have have a professional help you fit your dress, a professional arrange your flowers, a professional do your hair, why would you not have a professional do your makeup... Common sense.

Only do it if you want to. My sister did my makeup and I was the bride. And when my sister-in-law got married she actually did her own makeup! I didn't feel it was worth the effort/money, although I did have my hair professionally done.

I just didn't wear make up, and of the three of us kids in the family who have had weddings my pictures turned out the best! But I really can't stand the way makeup feels on my face, so I've worn it maybe 3 times in my life.

That said, I would probably wear make up for someone else's wedding, if they so desired it. On my wedding day, I had enough of a radiant glow from being the bride. ;)

I got my eyebrows waxed for my wedding.

the wax felt sooooooo nice and warm as they applied it.

then it was quite a rude awakening.

but hey, at least i ended up with 2 distinct eyebrows.

<sigh> Beats me. It didn't even occur to me to have a professional do my make-up or hair for my own wedding. I've stood up in two other weddings, and we didn't have professionals do hair/make-up for those, either.

Yowzers! I'm glad I look smashing w/o all this drama.

For me it'd depend on how much the makeup artist was charging for a full face, and how comfortable you feel doing your own makeup. I'd go for the eyes and lips, because not only will the artist have more color options at his or her disposal, but I personally am terrible at doing anything except lip gloss and one sweep of eyeshadow/mascara.

Plus, heck, it's a lot of fun getting dolled up. :)

If the other bridesmaids have professional makeup, you may look out of place. Not that you won't do a good job, but part of being a bridesmaid is looking uniform.
