you *may* want to put some damp newspaper on the glass and have the laser go through the damp newsprint and then onto the glass. It helps with the light and produces a smoother etch...

I've heard that. I tried it on my bottle, and it didn't noticeably improve the etch in my experience, though it did cut down on the light. It also made it easier to line up the engraving.

In my experience, you can find a lot of stuff like that at flea markets or those big roadside sort of antique shops.

you can find them at craft shops too -- Hobby Lobby, Michael's, etc.

Or chemistry stock rooms, in my case. :)

Tis true, though I've found they're often ridiculously overpriced.

This is very true. Oh how it is true.

I might actually buy the overstock from UST if they'll let me. It'd keep me going for a while.

check on liquidation.com - they have decent deals on stuff, but usually you have to buy a lot of whatever is on sale.

A good alternative for a packrat when he runs out of space or money is knowing where to get something. If he knows where to get some useless croutons, he can rationalize not having to have said useless croutons in his personal possession at all times.

Hey arfink, what sort of things can you do? Methinks I would really like something you've done at some point soon.

For some background on why I had arfink make this: I am a casual geocacher (google it, it's pretty razzle dazzle) and wanted a personalized (and cheap) bauble to leave behind. I had him make this so that it could be stamped into clay (orange and blue, of course - God's favorite colors) which had been inlayed in a cap of one of my bottled beverages of choice (pictured is the top to a bottle of Angry Orchard - if you're a cider fan, I recommend it). It incorporates my "callsign" and its meaning. Above is a sample outcome. Looks pretty good methinks.

Haha, I love what you do with it!

I'm glad it arrived safe and sound.

I'll have more stuff coming up folks! I got plastics in stock now, and I'm going to begin experimenting with them in the coming week. Also I have begun construction of my web store, from which you may order swag once it is completed.

As for special orders and commissions and stuff, I'm always open to that kind of stuff. Just PM me!
