Mark of the Cross

May the peace that your mother has now found in Jesus Christ extend to you and comfort you in your sorrow.

 • 2 weeks later...

My mother received last rites according to the Byzantine tradition on the night of August 7th, and was given viaticum the next morning. The following day (August 9th at 9:03am), after having said goodbye to her four children and seven of her grandchildren the previous day, she died peacefully in her sleep.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to all those who prayed for my mother, and I would ask that they continue to do so. A public Panikhida (memorial service) will be offered for her following divine liturgy on the evening of September 8th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Walnut Creek, CA.

My mother, after converting to Byzantine Catholicism on July 16th, expressed a burning desire to attend the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom as soon as she was strong enough to leave her house. Sadly that desire could not be fulfilled, but as Fr. Anthony said to me following divine liturgy on the evening of August 11th, "She is now continuously celebrating the celestial liturgy in heaven."

May her memory be eternal!
