ToJesusMyHeart
Do we (Catholics) believe in the primacy, or the supremacy of St. Peter? What is the difference? And how does that translate to our current day vicar?
Theoketos
I am not sure there is a meaningful distinction between those words normally. Perhaps in terms of ecclesial politics, between the West and the East, it means something. When I have studied the issue with an open mind, I have found that the official theological position of each side is malleable enough for reconciliation. Perhaps with changing geopolitical positions of the secular powers, it might happen. The Pope of the Catholic Church is THE successor of Peter and thus is like Peter to the Apostles. The first among equals. The Holy See is immaculate, that is never committing Hersey, unlike any other see, and thus this gives testimony to the special charism and office of the Pope.
