Who Wrote The Book Of Genesis?

The Torah is generally believed to have been written by Moses but what about the creation story? Was Moses given some insight to what preceded his birth?

The bible is written by humans with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. How I have visualized it is as similar to the dreams Joseph received about the seven years of feast followed by the seven years of famine. If an ancient scribe was given visions of the Creation, I can't think of a better description of the Big Bang than God said let there be light As to the seven days thing, I've often thought of that as a dream a night for seven nights.

Many of these were oral traditions handed down until they were written down during the Exile in Babylon. They wrote them down then because that's when they needed them the most.
