On Thursday we took data that consisted of a total of 464 data images. I've been having trouble reconciling what I'm seeing with what I'm supposed to be seeing. I looked at my logs again and found that for the data I wanted to take, it should have been 448 data images. There are 16 extra data images hidden within the rest and I have no idea where.

I hate when that happens.

Okay, I left an awkward message on his answering machine. Idk if he'll ever find it in his heart to forgive me, but I think I'm gonna have to keep trying to work things out with him. Hope. Always. Even after I get my heart thrown into the dirt, I will stand up and hold it up again, knowing it might get thrown down again. I certainly deserve far worse for my actions, so I'll stomach all this and more if I have to. He's worth it.

What were you trying to image?
Maybe something else was saved with the same file header. Did any of the calibration images get saved with the same header?

Some days I question that myself lol. I just want him to punch me so we can be friends again but I can't even get in touch with him.

I'm trying to image the fluorescence of a phosphor screen (located after a multi-channel plate aka MCP). It fluoresces each time an atom hits the MCP and has resolution down to tens of microns. Basically, my images look like 464 identical green glowing circles

I wish, but we did calibration the previous day, and every day the program starts a new folder. So the only things in that folder were from that data session.

Indeed. Whenever I feel unhappy with my English Major, I will come talk to Brian and he will make me thankful again.

In regards to the original post, C is a genius. He figured out the 16 extra images. I have no clue how he did it.

Nope, he's currently rearranging graduate student offices to be ready for the incoming students. After he's done that, then we've got to catch up on fixing a few things in the lab, finish data analysis, talk to Dr H about ordering new equipment, then after all that, we'd like to take new data.
