GeorgiiMichael
I would be very surprised if the consecration was valid. Most loosey goosey crapfests like that use leavened bread of some kind. Unleavened bread is seen as too stuffy.
Leavened bread is valid matter, it's just not licit in the Latin rite. Or do Eastern Catholics and our Orthodox brothers and sisters not truly receive the Body and Blood of Christ? Not to say that you're wrong in your assessment that the consecration was probably invalid, just that your reasoning was off. As for whether or not the consecration WAS invalid would depend on this man's Holy Orders and whether they were valid or not.
Vincent Vega
Interesting. I've always been under a mistaken impression. More info, for those interested: http://www.ewtn.com/library/liturgy/zlitur85.htm

Ice_nine
Every Anglican/Episcopal church I've been too in recent memory has had - and used - altar rails. Something about glass houses....
was not a veiled dig at Episcopalians. I've not heard of "passing around communion" in a Catholic church, but surely poo can go terribly wrong in that respect.
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
an animal can not be conciously in a state of grace. They have a soul but not an interlectual soul, they can not comprehend as to whether or not it is in a state of grace therefore can not recieve either species, only baptised catholics in the state of grace can recieve, and since animals have not original sin or conciously sin at all they can not be baptised or be confirmed catholic therefore can not participate in the precious body and blood of christ. An animal can be blessed by a priest as can a car but can not partake in any of the sacraments. I bless my animals sometimes with holy water but i do not and cannot baptise them in the name of the father and son and the holy spirit, i just say st francis pray for us than splash them and say glory be to the father and the son and the holy spirit. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
a lady bought her dog into the foyer of our church last tuesday, and another lady got up half way through mass and got it a bowl of water. I was very urked by this, and have failed to mention it to our priest. I may just do that now you have reminded me. A fill in priest 4 weeks ago also sung happy b'day for an elder member in the middle of holy mass, i cringed, at the least i believe he should have waited till the anouncments at the end of mass to announce her b'day and sing happy b'day. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
these are all very serious matters. Please pray for such priests when you can, infact if you don't already pray for the holy priests, bishops and deacons in your diocease daily or as often as you remember, daily better. If we get attacked by the devil imagine how much more so the holy priesthood, we need to protect them with our prayers through the grace of GOD. JESUS "knock and the door will be opened." keep knocking persistantly that the will of GOD be done in the lives of your local priests.
